Q: Two questions here (to save sending 2 separate items) - and maybe the answers will differ regarding timing new buys in these 2 sectors.

With most bank stocks and even the better rated energy stocks hovering just above or just below 52 week lows, would you be comfortable buying any of the banks or energy stocks right now or have we not seen "the whites of their eyes" yet?

In an earlier question (I believe) you suggested not buying anything for a couple of weeks.

Would the same apply here?

Q: CODI has been described as a mini-Berkshire Hathaway buying smaller companies, recently selling Camelbak and adding Manitoba Harvest to their portfolio. Being an old fart a hemp based food business strikes me as somewhat fad oriented but a lot of people have made a lot of money off of fads. Trading at a low P/E and a having a yield around 8.7%, what are your thoughts on this company ?

Q: Quite often these days you hear some expert calling for a 10 to 15% correction. What level on the TSX are they using to correct from. January 1, 2015 or the highest level the TSX reached this year or from the level the TSX is at the day the expert financial fortune teller makes the call?

Q: Morning Peter and Team,
Seems AFN has been caught in the current downdraft. (not to mention the western Canadian drought). I purchased the company after your recent report. I'm down 16%. It's dividend is now over 6%. Do you think it's safe. Also, is this the kind of company that can withstand a possible global recession caused by the "China Problem"? What is the downside?

Also, what is your opinion regarding the impact China's economic problems could have on the global economies

Q: Many of small/mid cap companies 5i covered have been sold off a lot lately. Some due to poor earnings, and some have no reasons at all. It looks like money is hiding under the large cap right now. Do you think the growth story will end here and investors should shift their investment towards large cap companies? Also market sentiment is so bearish, I think it usually presents a good buying opportunity. (Contrarian Play) Do you agree? Thanks!

Q: Aug 13 quarter report was anything but positive. After the big drop in share price today do you think its akin to catching a falling knight or worth a small nibble for the risk capital portion of my portfolio? CEO says " We are generating the cash flow that enables the payment of a dividend at the bottom of the cycle. He does not say if that div will be at the current level going forward. Do you see this div as sustainable, because a cut probably would see a further drop in share value. Thank you for you thoughts

Q: Just off the conference call and I have to say, this one is a real head scratcher. Everyone begins by congratulating the team on a great quarter and the stock does a serious nose-dive. I couldn't see anything but positives in either the numbers or the answers. Am I missing something? Or is this just sell the news. Thank-you.

Q: I have a large position in Crescent Point that I wanted to sell everyday for a month but countless analysis kept saying this is a good company and the rebound is near. Yeah, just like the dividend is safe - right. I know you guys have not been high on the company and I wish I would have listened more.

My dilemma now is that I am down about 60% but I feel like this one could go to zero. Do you see any bottom in the carnage that's going on in the oil industry.

Q: Hello: I follow everything on this site about HCG because I'm down 46.27% on this stock. As an investment, I'm wondering if and when I'll b able to recover what I've lost. I'd like to hold the stock for a long term hold, but I am not married to it, and if it will take several years, that's several years of my capital tied up with a stock "waiting" just to break even. It's held in a RIF account. What is your advice? Wait? Sell?

Q: The world seems to be shorting Canada. Is it too late to increase US weighting in our portfolios? I currently have 20% in US stocks and 25% in Canadian stocks that get most of their revenue from outside of Canada (ATD.b, MDA, OTC, BAM.a). The remaining 55% is pure Canadian. I would appreciate your comments.

Q: Hi gang...lots of nail biting going on right now..yikes! Anyway last week just after China's announcement, a speaker on BNN mentioned that Dollarama would be a good place to invest at this "junction" due to their connection/buying with/0f Asian products! Q: On Jan 1,2015 TD Research indicates a seller sold 3 million shares, 500 times the normal volume. This seems to have started a almost 20% correction in the stock. Is this an institution selling? For a low beta stock this seems very overdone. The price is at my 20% stop loss but I purchased this stock for stability in a paranoid market. Your comments please?

Q: Peter and Team,

My bond portfolio is currently made up of HFR, CBO, and CLF. I was curious if you know if there are ETF's that are similar to these but holding US bonds that you would feel comfortable with? Basically I am looking for 1 - 5 year laddered Government, 1 - 5 year laddered Corporate, and Floating Rate US Bonds.

I was thinking hedged ones might be best given CAD is down so much but I would consider un-hedged as well.
