Q: I am in a position where I need to begin collapsing my RESP, no new contributions will be made. I currently hold CDZ ishare, PPL, MDA, STN and WEQ. I like them all but my financial needs currently require that I sell 2 of my holdings. What would you let go? Or would you suggest selling a bit of each(they all are about the same weighting) I will be making withdrawals over the next 5 years until the plan is exhausted

Q: Since there is lots of talk about dividends, I have a question...what is the hype about dividends, I've researched this and found that on ex-dividend date the stock value drops about the same as the dividend itself, so isn't like taking the money from your left pocket and putting it in the right pocket?
I do understand if a person is retired and needs money regularly to survive, it is a good way, and there is also a tax benefit is those cases, but is it worth it otherwise?
Keep up the great work team!

Q: Hi Peter and gang,
I have noticed over time there does not appear to be an easy way to remove old, delisted or defunct firms from one's portfolio in most investment company accounts. Is there anybody out there performing this function? There would appear to be an opportunity for a non-profit to accept them and a donation for transfer out of an investor's account. this could clean up records, provide non-profits with a cash stream and simplify gains and loss declarations.
