Q: Hi Peter and 5iResearch Team, I would like to add a lumber company to my portfolio. I am looking at West Fraser WFT, Canfor CFP, and Western Forest WEF. Based on location with respect to beetle problems, products and markets, which of these companies would be best to buy. Also, should I wait for a pullback in the sector?

Q: Hi Peter and Team, This is more of a comment than a question. Your recent article "Selling Too Early Might Be A Mistake: Five Things To Consider First" was very helpful to me. I bought CSS and the price dropped quite a bit at first, but is doing considerably better now. Had I ignored your advice, I likely would have let 'emotion' rule my decision and sold it at a loss. Q: I would like to invest in the solar energy space, and to that end have been keeping my eye on First Solar (FSLR) and Canadian Solar (CSIQ), both trading on the Nasdaq.

Of the two, which would you recommend for a full position, and why?

Alternatively, would you suggest a half position in each? (2.5%) Both seem to be making great gains in the past 6 months, and I'm not sure if I'm really comparing apples to apples anymore.

Q: TTFS Trim Tabs Float Shrink ETF I've always had an admiration for the thinking behind Trim Tabs. This ETF is a case in point.
It has done well in a market where nearly everything has done well. What do you think of it and how do you think it would perform versus S&P index in a down market?

Q: I have 5 k to invest in a new half position in my RRSP portfolio and have it narrowed to one of the following: DHX, FSZ or EH.

Q: i know people have been asking about Counsel Corp and it's recent declines, and i was wondering if you thought it was a buy at current levels? Is this a company you still view +vely for the future? Do you like the current valuation on the stock? I'm debating whether adding Counsel to my portfolio of Wanted Technologies (granted they are very different). They would make up a small speculative portion of my portfolio.

Q: Hi Team, I've noticed some people ask you "If you were to cover this company then what back of the napkin rating would you give it", I like it when you give us a rating, it makes it easier to understand where that company stand on your point of view, I find it easier that way, compared to trying to understand some of your answers and reading between the lines. Now this is only a suggestion, because I know you already give a great service, but if you could put that rating when possible, it would help me out a lot in understanding you answer. If this isn't possible, I'm also ok with it...keep up your great work, and thanks for being there for us novice investors.

Q: With the IPCCs release of their latest climate change report, I'm concerned what will happen to the TSX which is over 30 percent energy stocks should governments finally decide to clamp down on carbon emissions.How could ETF investors protect themselves? Would you buy an alternative energy etf like TAN or is there a better way to hedge potential losses over time?

Q: ETF Short list: - - I have been wandering through considerable posts on ETF's here and in other areas online for some weeks now, and trying to formulate a clear short list of best in class ETF's, but more specifically, the BEST TIME/SCENARIO to move INTO and OUT of each one of them for income, growth and security of capital. There are so many market areas they cover and such diverse offerings that a concise summary would be very helpful. Does anyone have anything like this already that they would be willing to share? Q: What is your opinion on TS.B (Torstar) It pays a very hefty dividend of almost 10% which is not always good. Seems to be in a dying industry but Fairfax bought into it a while back.

Q: Hi to everyone at 5i

I must echo everyone else's sentiments as to the incredible value of this service.

I particularly like the idea of investing in infrastructure assets that are located not only in Canada but elsewhere around the globe. I have been researching both BIP.UN and BGI.UN; my understanding is that BIP.UN directly owns infrastructure assets whereas BGI.UN invests in publicly traded global companies that hold such assets

Would you prefer to own the assets directly or indirectly? Or would it be wise to diversify with a position in each. I have no particular investments of this type except for a small position in Altagas and I have a long-term hold objective.
