Q: AVL SEEMS TO BE ON AN UP-TICK. THEIR RECENT AGREEMENT WITH THE NW TERRITORY METIS NATION SEEMS TO BE ANOTHER POSITIVE SIGN.

Q: Do you think JDS Uniphase looks good right now? Is there a reason why they are doing an exchangeable share at the of March. I don't quite understand what that is for. To me it looks like it is acting as a prime takeover candidate.

Q: Currently I hold WIN (5%) and SYZ (12%) in a small, aggressive growth (taxable) portfolio (Majority of my funds are in other well balanced portfolios). Heeding your advice about paring down individual positions that become overweight, I need to sell some of SYZ and acquire another Growth Tech stock. What would your top 2 picks be ? Q: Hi Team,
It's a commonly held belief that the price of gold rises as the economy deteriorates. For the past few weeks, we've been seeing upward movement in the bullion and in gold stocks but no real sign that the economy is tanking or even headed that way. Do you have any recollection of past periods where both gold and the economy grew in tandem? If so, this would make me feel a bit more secure buying miners at this point in time.

Q: additional comments on lifs and rifs, you have to be 65 on jan.1 before you can split income, all lifs rif and company pensions can be split, but not old age security or Canada or quebec pension. dave

Q: About 4 months ago, and just before becoming a 5i member, I bought 300 CPG in a TFSA, mainly for income but also a bit of growth (I'm currently under water on the stock price). Since joining 5i, I've read repeatedly that you're not keen on CPG. Would you suggest that, despite holding CPG for such a short time, I would do better to take my losses and move on to SGY, for example? The yield is even better than CPG, but does the smaller market cap make it much riskier?

Q: I hold WEQ and I know the organic growth prospects look very good. It's market cap is small compared to HNL and BDI.

I am retired and love the WEQ dividend plus the prospect for some growth.

Is it likely that WEQ will be taken out by one of the big boys?

Q: KBL
I hold this stock in my RRSP and have done reasonably well with it, my objective for the stock is LONG TERM income and growth. Stock is down >5% this year and is my biggest loser so far this year. Should I be reconsidering my position with this stock?
