Q: re: Utilities & Interest Rates

I know we all continue to watch for any mention that it is time to raise interest rates. And it appears to me to be inevitable - just a matter of when.

It is obvious which sectors should benefit once this happens - banks, insurance, lenders - also just as obvious we can probably expect REITs to take a hit when they go up.

Can you please comment on what effect rising interest rates will have on Utilities? And which companies in particular we should have our eyes on when rates do go up?

Further to Russell's question on DHX and the proposed share proposal and it's negative impact on small shareholders and detrimental impact on possible buy out opportunity, what is the benefit to DHX to go down this road?

Regarding the question on the potential DHX media share structure, is it best to put a stop loss on the stock if it is a structure that limits its upside (potential take over )? The official announcement(after earnings ) alone could bring pressure to the stock

Q: Relative to Antoine's question on sep 17 about a website to follow dividends, I use the Globe and Mail's Globe investor service and have set up a "watchlist" for my portfolio. It includes the div Yield, Div annual Per share amount and Payout Ratio among many other user selected options. It is a free service and I have been using it for many years. Cheers.

They are wanting to create three new classes of shares

Variable Voting Shares
Common Voting Shares
Non-Voting Shares

What is your opinion on this senario and would you vote against this?

Q: Some of the companies in your Summary, Model and Income names can be traded in the US. For US exposure would you recommend buying your A and B rated companies in the US? Could you indicate the US symbol in the summary where applicable or at least in your answer?

Q: Hi guys,

Could I have your view on Eagle Energy Trust (EGL.UN) and how safe the insanely high dividend is. Lots of insiders buy in September with a 10 year low stock price so what is your general view on the stock. It would be for a div buy and hold strategy.
