Q: Hi 5i team,

Couple of beginner questions: I've recently graduated, and am starting to build a portfolio for longer term savings. At the moment, I have 500 shares of Power Corp (POW), and another ~$10 000 cash that I'm looking to invest. First, how concerned with diversity should I be right off the bat? - that is, would you recommend taking a larger (say $5K) stake in 2 companies, or several smaller stakes in a number of companies? Would it be worth selling some of my stake in POW and invest in other sectors for more balance?

Q: BLD. seems to have attracted 'some' attention. I got beat-up on this stock during the dot-com bubble. Do you have an opinion....is it worth a small investment? Best regards.

Q: would you recomend sitting on some cash at the present time?
At the turn of the year most experts seemed positive on both the Canadian and U.S. markets. Now there is a significant number of the same people calling for a general, large, pullback. Self fulfilling prophecy, perhaps?

Q: http://www.mining.com/web/five-ways-to-play-the-end-of-the-natural-gas-renaissance-bill-powers/

Here's an interesting report on natural gas supply and demand with some hot tips. Any thoughts. Seems like a well thought out analysis. I don't have the background to analyze the information but the person who sent me the article does and seems to think it's valid.

Q: Hi Peter and team, thanks for all your great advise in 2013. I'm looking at several converts to spruce up my fixed income side. I would appreciate your thoughts or ranking of the following debentures: afn.db.a, are.db.b, ahf.db, eif.db.e, fr.db.h, mrt.db.a, weq.db.c, di.db.c and nwh.db.
I'm 70 and plan to hold to maturity and would represent about 10% of my fixed income.

thanks in advance

Q: Enablence (ENA.V) restructured last fall; I expected tax-loss sales to follow, but shares still haven't found a floor - at a time when many semiconductor enterprises (well, excluding JDSU) are booming. But Enablence seems adequately funded, and continues to produce new components; ideas?

Q: Hi Peter. Thank you for answering so quickly regarding Surge Energy. I had included NPS Pharmaceuticals as well and also in yesterday's question. Is there a reason you are not commenting on this stock? Thanks.

Q: Looks like interest rates are to remain low.
In your opinion how will that affect stocks such as SLW & G.

Q: Hi Team: A general question on securitization: why do finance companies not just keep the receivables and collect the interest themselves? I suppose there is an advantage to selling off the assets and redeploying the capital again? Does this reduce their risk profile and make it easier to borrow? thanks

Q: Your comments re RMP have changed slightly from September to January 21st. What have you learned since September? I'm looking for an entry in O & G (mostly O) to take advantage of the season. Is RMP a worthwhile consideration or are there others? RMP's chart has broken above an intermediate downtrend line today.
