Q: Good Morning Team
I am interested in finding a list of Rate reset preferred shares(including reset date and terms). If this is not available do you have a few recommendations?

Q: I own NBD-T and BRP-N and am down 12% and 22% respectively. On the plus side they are each only about a 1% weighting in my portfolio. They continue to trend down and yet the housing data in the US (which I assume is driving them) doesn't seem to be that bad and in fact improving albeit at a slow pace. What would make them go up and should I continue to hold or get out and get something else? I have nothing else in the real estate sector. Great service.

Q: My portfolio is lacking exposure to insurance cos., aside from a position in US Financial ETF (XLF) whose biggest holding is BRK.B. Which insurance co. would you recommend and why? GWO, SLF, MFC, FFH?

Q: I have $106,000 cash in a registered education savings plan. The money is to be paid out within a year. What is your recommendation for getting some return on the cash position?

Q: There are two pieces of advice that perplex me about investing and I'm not sure which ones to follow:

1. "you need to take profits" vs "you need to let your winners run"

2. "You should be raising cash to take advantage of an inevitable correction" vs "You can't time the market so you should stay fully invested at all times"

I suppose point 1 and 2 are almost the same thing...

All of these strategies make sense to me, but a choice has to be made right? In your experience which ones have you found more successful in the long run?

Q: This is by way of me trying to figure out why the market will suddenly shoot up or plunge down. I guess I can't help always seeking a reason. The reason given for today's big drop in the TSX and the DOW is tension in Iraq (or so I read on Bloomberg). This confuses me. The worst hit sectors were materials (Gold) and energy. Why would people fearing turmoil in the middle east sell off energy stocks in Canada? Would they not benefit? And isn't gold supposed to rise during times of tension? Or is Bloomberg simply seeking a reason for the fall and plucking that one of out of the air?

Q: A comment about investing whether to use a advisor or not .
I am arguably a fair income investor in my opinion the two key ingredients to be a successful investor is 1.Time and 2.Interest if you lack one of the two stay with an advisor/money manager.

Q: Hello Peter, First of all, best wishes for your health and get well soon ( i hope that guy's driver license is suspended). question about holdings in my daughter resp, which has another 4 years of contribution time. A fairly conservative and concentrated set up - consisting of CHB, CDZ, ZWB, CNR, MFC, TRP, ENB each at about equal weighting. I keep on adding to these regularly. wish to get your opinion - Shall I continue in these names or you suggest replacement. I am thinking of switching CHB to XHY and ZWB to XFN as these has performed better relatively. Do we need to keep both ENB and TRP. May be sell one of these and buy another of your top pick.Thanks as always for your opinion.

Q: I have about $220K to invest in a LIRA. I'm 42 and plan on retiring at around 62. If I want to invest in equal amounts the same as the Model Portfolio, should I wait for a pull back or are current prices still good entry points?

Q: I had filled out the questionnaire earlier today and here are some of my thoughts:
Top quality rated stocks are AYA, DHX, and SYZ. Stocks that should be rated a lot lower in my opinion are AVO, BAD, and CSU.
