Q: Just heard that there has been an oil pipeline explosion in Saudi Arabia. Could be the cause of the rise in oil today.

Q: Would you recommend which company(s) to sell in my cash account for tax loss selling? PRW, BAD, VET, BTE, BDI?
As others have mentioned, I certainly appreciate your service. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter and company. I was wondering what your thoughts are on the SAND BAGGING most analysts took last/this week. The company lowered there numbers to analysts and in turn the stock had large short positions gaining and down grades. I bought some shares last week and Monday and sold this morning. Does this change your thoughts on managements communication with the public in whole? Have you set a new target price?
Thank you Jason

Q: Regarding Lyondell for the member asking (I hold it as well) - Lyondell uses a great deal of energy in it's business and retooled to use cheaper natural gas. That action boosted it's margins and gave it an advantage over other chemical companies. Now that oil is cheaper, that advantage is gone. For now.
Can I ask - Canadian oil was receiving much less than the WTI price a year or so ago. That seemed to improve more recently. What price are the Canadian companies receiving now? Is the much different than the oil price they received when transportation was an issue? (I guess I am asking - is this downturn really, relatively, so bad?
Thanks

Q: Good Morning 5i team, I am currently underweight energy and zero weight materials. I am looking to allocate new dollars to both sectors in the coming months. Could you please rank the following sectors on their current risk/reward: oil, natural gas, energy services, gold, silver, base metals. Also, a top pick from each of the six sectors indicated. Thanks for the great service. Rob
Q: Thoughts on this mornings results ?
Q: Just a note of thanks for your weekend advice to sell my CRP.RT holdings on Monday morning. I sold at 43 cents, and this morning CRP.RT is trading at 4 cents! (As well, the CRP shares themselves are now at a much more interesting entry point.)
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: Can you define the concept of over the top programing(OTT).And can you explain how it works and if you think it will continue to be used wildly.

Q: We currently hold Vale and are down substantially. We are wondering if we should sell Vale (and take the tax loss this year) and buy Altagas and Whitecap with these funds. We are currently about 14% in energy and 34% in financials with the balance over utilities, telecoms and reits. Would appreciate your thoughts on this transaction or a better recommendation.
Q: Peter, any thoughts about Aptose Biosciences - APS? Also, could you share the highlights of the questionnaire done by us some time ago?
Thanks a million.

Q: I have held Diamondback for a while and am now down fairly significantly. Would you continue to hold, or do you think it is time to get out. What is your view of the company in comparison to other energy companies, and on the energy sector as a whole currently

Q: In regards to typically Canadian commodity stocks: as the $US increases in value against the $CAD & many others, what companies will benefit the most in your opinion in the peer groups for various producers? Such as base metals, precious metals, lumber & oil/gas.

Q: Hi 5i ,yesterday while giving your thoughts on CZN you mentioned that the cash on hand was being used at a fairly brisk rate. so my question is how much cash do they have on hand and what has been their burn rate so far in 2014 ? do you know what the burn rate is for the next 12 months.
also with regards to commodities being in the dog house is it possible for some stocks of certain commodities to outperform the markets . for discussion purposes if zinc was to average &1.50 per lb for all of 2015 would this show up in zinc related stocks or all commodity stocks painted with the same brush (red).
are we still in a normal business cycle and do you feel the US recovery is for real ? thanx Norm

Q: I typically like to use what I view as short term blips to buy good quality companies. However, sometimes what I think of as a short term blip turns into multiple other issues. Do you think that the dip in BNS share price is a buying opportunity, or would you be worried that there may be other issues lurking?
Thanks

Q: Russel Metals and Wajax are two companies that have ties to the oil industry. Wajax reported what appeared to be good results and the stock is down and I haven't been able to find RUS results, although the stock was down significantly today.
Are both down on their own merits or do you suspect the energy sector decline is largely responsible?
thanks for your insight. It helps to keep me off the ledge!

Q: Hi Peter! I have 50% of my total portfolio in well diversified Canadian stocks, mostly from your equity portfolio. Of the remaining 50%, 5% is cash; 25% is in US stocks; 5% each in Europe (FEZ) and Emerging Markets (EEM). I'm thinking of diversifying further by placing the remaining 10% or so into specific countries such as Japan and/or India.
Can I have your thoughts on this plan and can you recommend any specific ETFs?
Thanks! Michael

Q: The Q3 results of BEP.UN released this morning are below last year and also against its LTA, prompting a hit on the share price.
Can you comment on its Q3 results and also its prospect for Q4 and the full year as to whether this negative Q3 result is just a blip in the longer term of things?
Thanks.

Q: In the grand scheme of things, which is more important, WTI or Brent. I have been watching energy to see if there is a bottom in sight and there are tenuous signs that maybe there is for Brent but not yet for WTI.
