Recently two of my holdings, MMT and POE, were moved to the Venture 30. What does this mean for the companies, if anything?

Q: I'm considering picking up some shares of First Capital Realty (FCR) to diversify my portfolio and get some exposure to real estate. I know very little about real estate investments though so I hope you could give me some pointers. Currently, interest rate is low and real estate asset value is relatively high, both of which are good for financing. In the medium term, real estate prices may cool down and interest rate will go up. How would this affect the stock price? In general, how sensitive is the stock price to the overall real estate asset value?

Is real estate a good investment to get in right now as a long-term investment? (I have a >10-year horizon)

Also what's your view on REITs? And US REIT vs. Canadian REIT?

I know about and have invested in Linamar in the past during the 2008-09 crisis because of the family behind them but Delphi in particular looks interesting to me because of the increase in share of content per vehicle for components that might be hard to replicate in markets where production is rising. I would appreciate your input as you always have an excellent perspective! Thanks!

Q: Hello Peter - I'm wondering about Telus - my children were given stocks when Telus first sold on the market. With Canada being the most expensive country for phone service, I'm wondering what might happen to Telus if the rates were to come down in line with other countries?

well, the companies period of quiet has been broken with a very bad quarter - albeit with the likely prospect of a good earnings recovery for the remainer of the year...

my question is about the LACK of pre-announcement (or warning) about the disappointing quarterly earnings...

in your experience is this a red flag when considering where to put our hard earned investment dollars (the lack of managerial warning is disconcerting point)...
