Q: Hi, I'm holding onto XBB as you always hear that a diversified portfolio should include bonds. I'm down 5% and thinking that XBB could continue down once interest rates rise. Would you buy, sell, or hold XBB today? Thank you.
Q: Hi, folks. I'm down significantly on HGU, a gold bull ETF. What's your thoughts on where gold is going? I'm tempted to sell now and move my money into something else. Thanks.
Q: Hi: I am new to 5i. I am having trouble with a quick view of the daily questions. Although I do know the name of the companies for a lot of symbols, many I don't have a clue. Although I know I can look them up (which is not an quick solution), I would like to see the name of the company and the symbol both shown. What do you think? Have a good day.
Q: Hi,
I have a very large amount of money in my RRSP, thank you PIR., instead of trying to buy individual companies, or ETF,s in the U.S.and global markets, which could prove difficult to manage on top of my Can. holdings, would just buying BRK.B more or less achieve the same goal, save me money on MER,s, research, and not have to learn new juggling skills!
Q: Hi I was wondring if you could comment on dynamic strategic yild corporate class for a long term hold also your thoughts on the corporate class part of it thanks
Q: Cipher - DND was halted this morning and then reinstated.
Something to do with "Paragraph IV Certification Notice"
At this moment stock down 10.23%.
Any idea what is happening.
Q: HCG has had quite a move recently. On BNN this morning, they said they thought this was a short covering rally. I think the fundamentals of HCG are excellent and by putting this company into greater focus, the shorts may have inadvertently sparked investors to have a closer look at HCG. I know you like HCG as well. Would you be trimming a little here? Do you know how many shares are still short?
Q: Trying to decide between a position in Stantec (STN) or Aecon (ARE). To me, Aecon looks much cheaper. CIBC shows consensus easnings estimates for Aecon is $1.38 and $1.81 for 2014 and 2015 giving it a forward p/e ratio of 9.85 and 7.51 for their respective years.
CIBC shows Stantec's consensus earnings estimates are $3.32 and $3.81 for 2014 and 2015 giving it a p/e ratio of 15.66 and 13.64.
I know you guys like STN better (and it certainly looks like a fine company), but why such a huge gap in p/e between the two comapnies? What am I missing?
I am looking to add a financial position to my wife's small, slowly growing, portfolio of mostly 5i recomendations (Magna, Cineplex, Amaya and Apple). I would classify her as a cautious medium term (2-3 years) investor.
In light of the Fed's decision yesterday (low rates in forseeable future but indicative of poorer US economy), would you be more or less bullish on US Financials vs. Canadian? How would you rank the following companies 5 that we have shortlisted to purchase? Thanks!!!!
TD
BNS
HCG
JPM
BOA
PS - I cant say it enough, I absolutely love this service and the value I know I'm getting!
I currently own GE in a registered account but would like more US exposure. Is UTX a good choice or is it too similar to GE? Or I have missed the boat because of it's 10% rise in the past couple of weeks?
Q: Don Walker of Magna was a very enlightening interview on Headline yesterday (archived here: http://watch.bnn.ca/#clip1006513). I have a half position in Magna from $44 US and based on what he outlined for the company such as unlimited upside sales potential I'll look for an opportunity to up my position. What concerns me is his acknowledgment that his is a cyclical industry and I've been stung before holding this stock too long. Do you see the current upcycle continuing for at least 12 months and if you were adding to the position today would you buy on NYSE or TSX? There's slightly better liquidity in U.S. and dividend is U.S.$
