Q: Hi,
Could you please tell me why the more than average sell off of SVC Sand vine, CS Capstone, and BB Blackberry? SVC was a resent recommendation twice on BNN. BB was highly mentioned on Seeking Alpha. I am thinking of selling at a loss one or more of them and buying PTX or DEE, both in the oil and gas sector (your opinion).
Thank you,
Dennis

Q: Good morning,
Could you please comment on releases from parkland fuel and stella jones, also, if as noted responses are delayed today, could you add crescent point that reports this afternoon as well. The former two seem to have marginal results but would appreciate your take.
Thanks,
Eric

Q: fsz
Hi- Fiera recently announced June assets under management, but did not include a comparison to May or previous months. I can't find more info on the Fiera site or archived news. Are the assets under mnanagement increasing or decreasing? Is that why Fsz is going down? I wanted to add to my small position.
Thanks

Q: Concerning the short attack on EIF, it would appear that some of the comments by Veritas and repeated in the G&M article were misleading, if not bordering on dishonest. You mentioned the fact that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if an ordinary joe tried such a scam, they would likely be fined by the regulators. So how do these people get away with it? My investor question is; do you think the secured debentures, more specifically the EIF.DB.D debs, are an ok buy. They are "on sale".
Q: Hi Peter, Avigilon has been taking quite the beating ever since 2014 began (bad timing for those who entered a position) and with their recent earnings release, stock has been taking a further beating. While I strongly believe in the future of this company, have a high appetite for risk and currently have a 2-3 year investment horizon on the stock, I am wondering if I will ever see a profit on this investment. Do you believe this company will ever return to their previous highs and beyond and perform as they have in 2012/2013 or has the fundamentals shifted out of favor for AVO? Thank you.
Q: Peter and Team,
Can you comment on Arsenal Energy's results? They look pretty good to me... it currently is 3.6% of my portfolio and I'm planning on continuing to hold the stock. Your thoughts on the long term for this company are appreciated.

Q: Hi,
Looking at your Badger Rept dated May 8 2012 rated A-, now B+, due to increased valuation, no doubt.I noticed they have been diversifying into construction which is very strong due to unusually low interest rates. Since there is much talk of rising rates, do you see this as a serious risk to BAD's upside or even line them up for another haircut?

Q: Re: BBD.PR.C Bombardier Preferred
Would you consider BBD.PR.C fairly safe as an Income holding. Dividend yield is approx 7.1%. If you're not okay with this one could you please provide some alternates?
Thank you.

Q: HGN. Would you please give me your opinion of Halogen's latest results released Aug. 7? Is it a buy, sell or hold? Thank you.
Q: I have owned and added to Husky HSE for a number of years and my cost base is precisely where the stock price is now. So the dividends have been my only return to date, and the company has made it known there will be no div. increases for the next couple of years. I know you have a good opinion of HSE, as do I, but I'm wondering whether it'd be advantageous to switch into Vermilion (similar dividend but better growth opportunities?). Thank you
Q: Peter and Crew:
Regarding the Brookfield Group: Which is preferable to hold, the parent company BAM.A or the individual subsidiaries eg BEP.un. They seem to provide a larger dividend for income, but wondered how they compared for growth. Also was wondering about tax implications in a non registered account. Are "units" treated differently than common shares with respect to dividend income.
Thanks
Phil

Q: A couple of my holdings have been punished for reporting weak quarterly numbers, namely Parkland (PKI) and Newalta (NAL). Here's my question: I hear some people say that one weak quarter is often followed by another, while others say that one quarter is too soon to decide on a stock. Could I have your comments on PKI and NAL, as well as on how to decide whether a bad quarter is a harbinger or a blip. Thanks very much.
Q: Hi team, I have BDI and FSZ in my TFSA. Both of them are down 6-7%. Should I sell them now. If so, what should I replace them with? Many thanks,
Q: Hi, LOY and AVO: which of these do you prefer for a small cap investment? What is the risk for each? Good time to buy? Thanks so much. Helen
Q: I read that you mentioned that HNL is a hold. Please define what you mean as a hold?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Hi 5i,
Are all insiders created equal? Using JE Just Energy as an example, am I right in believing CEO's, CFO's, have more inside knowledge on company specifics than say a 10% holder?
Why I say this, would Jim Pattison have bought stock in JE, Just Energy, knowing the company was going to slash their dividend so soon after his purchases and take a 25% haircut on the stock price?
Also how do directors rate in insider knowledge ?
Thanks.

Q: Hi Team. Could you please comment on Lorus Theraputics (LOR). I took a small position in April this year. Much appreciated.
Q: re: ALA Altagas
As of late I have been hearing and reading many pundit comments suggesting ALA has a very bright future - especially if/when LNG approvals starting coming in... if/when being the biggest component in that statement. With that in mind I have a few questions;
1) your thoughts on the 2nd 1/4 results released July 31?
2) is there a reason there doesn't seem to be much interest in ALA on a volume and 5i membership basis (last 5i question was June 10)
3) What do you think about ALA with and without the LNG approvals in place over the next year and beyond?
Thanks for all you do
Gord
