Cruz has been receiving attention over recent months as it continues to expand its reach, especially throughout the Ontario region. Would like your analysis on this small cap company and how you feel about the price increase in Cobalt over the past year and its future prospects..
Q: I have too many question to ever use them up, so please consider this three separate queries. I have a high risk tolerance and follow my portfolio extremely closely. Technology is one of the few sectors performing well recently and I would like your opinion on whether these would be investments or gambles. Are any of these worth a full position (5%) or a half position. Or are there ideas you currently like better.
Thanks for all you do, this service is the reason I'm retired.
Q: It has been almost a year since you commented on this company so I would appreciate it if you provide an update. To be specific, what do you think of their latest results from 22 February (see highlights below)? Many thanks.
Highlights during the First Quarter
Revenue increased 222% to $2.2 million compared to the same period last year. Paid development contracts continued to drive the period over period revenue growth.
Gross margins were 75%, down from 83% in the same period last year. Gross margins continue to reflect strong margins from development contracts and were slightly impacted by lower margin revenue from the Thurso operations.
Adjusted EBITDA(1) reached $460,000. The Company recorded its third consecutive quarter of positive Adjusted EBITDA, a notable improvement from the $556,000 negative Adjusted EBITDA reported for the same period last year.
Achieved positive net income of $96,000. Strong revenues and gross margins resulted in positive net income, a significant change from the net loss of $1.9 million reported for the same period last year.
Cash balance of $10.9 million at quarter-end. The Company finished the quarter with a strong cash position and no debt or warrants outstanding.
Q: What are your current overall thoughts on AT? also what do you think of today's acquisition ? the market seems to like it. Would you be comfortable with a 2-3% holding of AT?
I have owned Corbys for quite a while and use it as a steady eady income stock. It would appear to be currently paying out more than its earnings by my brokers figures which isn't good. In the past it has paid special dividends. I see it has dropped in price to a 52 week low. I was thinking of adding to my position believing the price may rise over the next year. What do you think of Corbys going forward? Do you see it dropping further in price or more likely being a couple of dollars more in a years time?
Q: Do you agree that today's news release from Questor technology sends a strong signal to the market as to the momentum of their business prospects in 2018? Better yet they can fund the significant growth from cash holdings and debt ( if needed) without issuing any equity to dilute current shareholders?
Q: RHT and PHO are both small cap, growth and higher risk companies.
How would you compare their numbers and which one would you buy today
and why for a longer term hold?
Thank you always for your good advice.
Q: Can you please comment on yesterday's earnings. The team pulled out a small profit for the year. 2017 vs 2016 looks better than comparing 4th quarters. On the call, management suggested there will be a reduction in operational costs of 6M annually or 1.5M a quarter that should begin in Q2.
Q: 1776 % on the year.
1336% on the 6 month
250% on the 3 month
92% in the 20 days that I have been following it since you recommended it.
So is this a crap shoot or a real company ? Have I missed it ? I have really bad memories of my Canarim / VSE days in the 1980s .
Q: 3 stocks you are very familiar with - COV this week went from 5.5 to 8 and back to 5.5. Is this computerized selling? The other two PEO and PHO are down considerably from their highs of all not that long ago. Do you see better days ahead for all of these stocks? They are in your portfolio so I imagine they should come around. Your opinion. Thanks for the service. Dennis
Q: BYL has doubled in the last little bit. Do you still see enough upside in the business to cover the risk that it might just be a one time temporary surge and may fall back. Or in other words do you feel it’s business has more momentum left
