Vanguard U.S. Dividend Appreciation Index ETF (VGG $95.97)
The criteria is pretty intense if one is looking for 4% dividends and 10% appreciation. There is nothing in this category that would not come with significant equity risks. VIU qualifies on historical numbers, trades in Canada, is international, and has a yield of 5.02% indicated and five year return 10.22%. It is one of our favourite internationals (non North America). VGG (US dividends) has five year 13.38% but only a 13.38% yield. VE (Europe) yield 5.86% and five year is 11.97%. Emerging markets do not come close. Covered call funds would provide high income but much would be return of capital.
