Q: Keeping in mind the often-heard advice to sell your losers, what is a good way to define a loser; is it just being underwater on your position, or are industry and macro developments important considerations as well? The reason I ask is that I am currently under water on Corus, but I'm not sure if that alone makes it a loser given it's position and relative strength in the industry. However, when considering the challenges that the broadcasting industry will continue to face going forward, maybe I should categorize it as a loser and move on. How would you approach a decision like this? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Q: Hi taeam:
Since the pull-back in the crude oil prices last fall, I wonder how much it has affected the revenue of the pipeline companies like TRP, ENB, PPL and IPL. I am looking for opportunities to add more for dividend income with a small growth potential. Secondly, from Ottawa's transportation watchdog, the worry about transporting oil by tankers' safety, it would suggest the coming of a new generation of stronger tanker wagons, I wonder if you could educate us to see what companies manufacture and do research on the above topic.

Q: "Friday was the TSX Index revision day, so stocks that were added to the index (such as Prometic PLI) showed significant volume because of index buying."

Another contributing factor to unusual volume would be that Friday was a "triple witching day".

Q: Hi team:
I have asked this ? of you before but I am even more concerned now. What is going on? Cipher has dropped from $18.39 on Jan 27 to todays close @ $12.62. I can't help it but I am suspicious that something is going on because that is a big drop even tho you & others say there isn't any significant news. I have been down this road before & something or someone is causing this. Sorry to be so cynical but like I say I have been down this road before & it doesn't end well for us "little
guys on the outside"

Q: When an analyst says something like, "20% growth expected this year and 22% next year," does that mean the share price is expected to increase that much? By they way, I'm quoting from Stockchase in reference to Robert McWhirter's recent evaluation of his BNN Top Pick, Constellation CSU. Also, do you agree with McWhirter's opinion on Constellation's growth? Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter and Team
I'm currently preparing for your portfolio review and nearing retirement. My concern is that my advisor has done little to diversify and several funds in my RRSP have high Mer. The portion in segregated funds is over 3%.
I would like to move everything to my TD self direct RRSP account but I don't understand the charges that may apply. Do you suggest I hire a new fee based advisor to assist or would TD look after the transfers. Any advice would be appreciated.

Q: Hello,

I am working at cleaning up my portfolio. I sold my losers (SGY and ACQ) at big losses and am now trying to reduce my Canadian portion of my portfolio to 20 stocks. Currently 5 of the 20 are in the tech sector which is 25%. Do you think this is too high? I own the following 5 tech stocks:CSU, ESL, OTC, GIB.A and AVO.

I don't mind being a bit overweight in the sector as I think it will do well over the next few years. How many should I keep? If I were to drop one or two which would you suggest? CSU, ESL and GIB.A have been my best perfromers so I hate to sell them because I find the stocks that do well are generally the stocks that continue to do well. But I also think OTC and AVO have good prospects.

I look forward to your advice.

Q: There seems to be significant anticipation regarding your higher risk portfolio due out soon. I am wondering if you will release it on a Friday after the close so all members have a fair chance to review it as I am positive that some, if not all, stocks will jump noticeably.
Would you be willing to tell us a ballpark number of subscribers that you now have so we can judge the influence of your recommendations considering your record, to date, has been stellar, with very few like Surge and most like almost all of the rest. Thanks.

Would it be possible to have your opinion on this little wireless with what is claimed to be the best wireless WIFI3 system. There is a fair amount of promo being done but nothing regarding their finance also I am not sure I understand the meaning behind the deals they talk about on stockwatch.com
