Q: re: Magna International

Hi guys... trying to find a good entry point for MG. Forward P/E is just 12.4 and price to book is just 1.9 so there appears to be tremendous value. Add to that nine out of 10 estimates have been raised for 2014 in the previous 30 days BUT... the stock is at a 5 year high. And this with the Auto industry not necessarily lighting the world on fire as it was expected to for a number of reasons. What are your thoughts on how this equity will perform over the coming 12 - 24 months. I keep looking for a correction with none in sight. Thank You

Q: VIX NYSE: all time low. Not sure I understand though even after reading the explanation other than measures volatility based on futures contracts? Is this something worth buying for a trade at these levels or best left alone-small portion USD portfolio.

Q: First, I would like to thank you for this incredible service, i.e. the opportunity to ask an investment question.

BPY is acquiring BPO. Which would be more prudent, accept the offer by BPY to exchange my BPO shares for an equivalent BPY or sell my BPO shares at 20.34/ share, which is higher than my purchase price. What are the future prospects for BPY and REITS in general. After the sell-off in May (QE taper scare!), many REITS are moving up but they are still a long way from their highs.

Q: I own shares of BPO which are being taken over by BPY. I have now received a "Voluntary - Purchase Offer". I wish to take your advice from 20 Sept 2013 which was to "take the maximum cash and stock option". However, I am not sure if I should choose "Option 6: Tender - Limited Partnership Units", or "Option 8: Tender - Exchange Limited Partnership Units - Residents of Canada". I do not understand the use by Option 8 of the designation "Exchange". Both are for Canadian currency accounts only. I reside in Canada. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

RBC recently launched a product Market Smart GIC which has a guaranteed return, principal protection as well returns of max 25% per year if held for 5 years depending on the market performance. Is it a good place to park cash for emergencies.

Q: Hi, question on reporting taxable gains. Several years ago I put some money into a trading account. I have not added or taken any out. I made several trades/gains last year but I am still down overall about 40% due to Lightstream holdings. Do I have to pay tax now on those trades ? I have of course being paying tax on the dividennds.

Not a question but a comment to my fellow members. I have noted a number of member remarks as to a shorting suggestion on a recent BNN telecast. I frequently watch these telecasts as well for different views. I would suggest that members go to the guest's fund web sites for performance of their particular fund as a reference point. I find myself that some guests have better advice than others.
