Q: Hi Peter:
What are your opinions on closed ednd funds that short long bonds to minimize loses due to rising intrest rates. Examples would be MIG.UN or MBB.UN. These type of CEFs pay god monthly income.

Q: Hello, Peter and all,
Just a bit of housekeeping:
I have noticed that my sessions are timed, this seems to be new. I am forced to maintain a constant check on your questions/answers during the day because your printed answers to questions are published according to the date of the question and not to the sequence of your answers which I would prefer. You should ask all members about this because not only i would rather have one time a day to follow your answers (which have grown from 5 to probably 15 per day!)but i will not be timed out as i would not spend a lot of time on the site.
I also noticed that you use cookies (new too). I would like to know for what purpose as i would also express my discomfort about the practice. Cookies are not my best friends, and this is a members only site.
Thanks for your comments, and be assured that these questions are not diminishing my interest for your excellent and most needed financial letter.

Q: High Liner Foods (HLF) stock price has been down significantly over the last 6 months. I am struggling with a decision to buy more at some point or simply walk away for good. I would appreciate your opinion on this company.
Q: NWH.UN-T NorthWest Healthcare Properties REIT
Hello Team, I've been holding NWH for a while. Bought for long term and income. Do you have any news aout what could be causing the decline in the share price? I am thinking of adding but waiting for your report and watching for a bottom. Thank you very much.

Q: Hello 5i Research,
When holding US dividend paying stocks there is a 15% with holding tax applied to any dividends held outside an RSP.
If the after tax dividend rate on the US dividend is equal to a Canadian dividend, is there any tax advantage, as the with holding tax has already been paid on the US dividend.
Thanks.

Q: I have in shares Pfizer in my RRSP account . Would like your opinion on the Zoetis offer - keep Pfizer or exchage shares for Zoetis ?
Q: A recent article suggested that stocks newly added to the TSX composite index may see a price bump due to buying by index funds. Have you seen evidence to support this thesis for past additions? The three securities added this time are: Norbord (NBD); Dundee Int'l REIT (DI.UN); Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (RBA). You've expressed generally positive opinions about these three in the past. What are your views now, either in the context of their being added to the index or simply on their own merits. Thank-you.

Q: To increase the return of my financial equities I'm thinking of selling all my ZWB (BMO Covered Call Banks) and replacing it with an equal amount of TD and BNS. Is a 12 month total return of 8% reasonable? Thanks for the fantastic service. Paul
Q: I have small positions in the ETFs CGL and SVR. Down in both, and am wondering if it might be a good plan to replace them with G and SLW, thinking that any gains in gold and silver might be levered by the producers. I am holding for the long term. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jim
Q: Would Red Line Communications look like a good specialist tellaccomm service provider investment (rdl). Thank You.
Q: Do you have an opinion on Ainsworth Lumber (ANS), are there any plans to report on it possibly? it would seem like it may be a timely purchase.

Peter

Q: Could you comment on CHEMTRADE LOGISTICS ( CHE.UN ).
Q: The price of XRB has increased as rates have trended lower and has recently decreased with the threat of higher rates. This seems counter intuitive for a floating rate instrument which should in part act as an inflation hedge. Am I missing something and is XRB now at an attractive level?
Q: Hi, is the Telcom sector now attractive after the sell-off of the past few weeks? Is the sector simply being grouped with dividend payers or is there something else at work as well? thanks.
