Q: BDI vs HNL: I have a 20% paper loss on Horizon North. Would it make sense to trade it for BDI and expect better share price increases and off set the lower dividend on Black Diamond?

Thanks for your help.

Q: Hello 5i team,
I own BIP.UN for almost 3 years now and have generated over 20% compound annual return. As usual, the Brookfield family tends to complicate things by adding another infrastructure product in their line-up BGI.UN; as I understand it, this one invests in infrastructure companies outside of the Brookfield family. What is your take on these 2?
Thanks
Tony

Q: Hi Team,

With regards to your team's views on CSS offer being bid up, I just read that TFI has already reached the max they can borrow for the CSS deal. How are they supposed to finance a higher bid. What is the risk the offer will not be accepted by shareholders and no counter offer comes from TFI as well. Where do you think the price will head in that scenario. Thanks

Q: Hi,

As a longer term play on tv, (several years)would you prefer DTV or Dish? I own lots of Walt Disney and Cgx, but think DTV or the Dish network are quite different. DTV has a much lower PE but Dish's growth over the last five years is phenomenal.

Q: Good day Peter,
Some advice, please. I am 70 years old with an investment portfolio of 3 million, consisting of $300,000. In 6% bonds, $225,000 in annuities, a $40,000. Indexed pension and a diversified portfolio of stocks. In my portfolio I have $90,000. In the Prefs listed below. My question is, do I continue to hold them with the threat of rising interest rates or move to AD, EMA, BGI.un,or any other stock you might suggest. My objective is to preserve capital, obtain some growth, and get a good dividend income stream.
BAM.PR.R -5.15%,
BPO.PR.R- 5.97,
MFC.PR.C - 4.92,
PWF.PR.P- 4.70,
PIC.PR.A - 5.49.
Thank you, Peter.

Q: In a diversified - 50 stocks - all Canadian 7 figure portfolio I hold the following 10 names with a cumulative value of 23% of my portfolio:

VSN, PPL, IPL
KEY, ALA, WCP, SGY, GEI, PEY, PKI

All of them have been very good to great this year. Some are 30 baggers over a 4 year period. I know they're all solid companies but it is too much of a good thing?

I do have solid representation in financials, REITs, tech and misc small caps in the rest of my portfolio.

My gut says let 'em run but thought I would check with the pros.

Thanks for your comments and I'll close by saying what I am sure is true for many: 5I is core to my investing knowledge and process and part of my daily reading.
