Q: Can I have your opinion on two high risk stocks (WZR, LYD) that are down quite a bit over the last couple of years. I planned on holding onto them long term, however, lately I am wondering if I should cut my losses and get rid of them. Thanks.
Q: Hi Peter & Co.,
I read an article in the G&M this morning extolling the merits of Prairie Sky for income investors. No mention of other companies, specifically FRU was made in the article. So I'm wondering, with FRU's dividend yield approximately double that of PSK's, would I necessarily be taking on significantly more risk in taking a position in FRU? Can you please comment on the pros & cons of investing in one versus the other?
Many thanks,
Brian
Q: Hi,
Please compare the financial metrics of these two oil producers for me and offer your thoughts on which would be the better buy at today's levels for a long-term hold. Would Surge be riskier than Spartan because of the risk of a dividend cut? Thank you.
Q: Hi: your comments on the latest deal - for debt repay and gen ? is this a good use of funds. what is their payout ratio look like after this. thanks
Q: Hi Peter and Team, my question is about Cipher Pharmaceuticals. First, what is the dividend yield for this company? Yahoo Finance says 3.40%, and Globe & Mail says 0%. Second, if you were to give a rating to Cipher, would it fall into the B or C category? Thanks, Gervais
Q: How should one evaluate ALA against BEP.un given both PE's are VERY high payout ratios exceed earnings and yet both seem to have BUY recommendations with analysts
Are these safe stocks at these PE levels; and on what basis would you recommend them and/or favor one over the other for income and growth
Q: I currently have a full position in ZRE and half positions in FSV and HCG at 44.65 and 38.75 respectively. In order to reduce interest rate sensitivity I am considering selling ZRE and using the proceeds bring FSV and HCG up to full positions. Other financial holdings are TD, SLF, and BNS. The dividend income from ZRE is not required and is currently being re-invested. Sector allocations are: Financials 15%, Utilities 10%, Consumer Discretionary 10%, Consumer Staples 9%, Industrials 15%, Health Care 7%, Telecom 9%, Info Tech 12%, Energy 9%, Materials 4%. Any feedback on this idea would be appreciated.
Q: I have a 3.85% postion in XGD right now with a 22% loss so far. My question to you is should I be cost averaging in this ETF or should i cut my losses and take that money and invest in another sector on the way up. From what i understand the recovery in gold could take years rather than months. If switching sectors makes sense what sector and what ETF would you recommend.
Can you share your thoughts on FireEye's quarterly results yesterday? With a half position in, is this a time to buy the other half following the decline? Could you also offer thoughts on Halyard Health growth prospects (recent spinoff from ? Would it be considered a growth company looking 2 years down the road (not considering Ebola effects)?
Q: After doubling on DHX I painfully sold half to address balance issues in my portfolio.Do you have another idea that could be as successful as Dhx regardless of sector(excluding energy).Just a comment, after this latest correction it became evident that my portfolio has to many Canadian stocks.TSE is not a diversified exchange and many good Canadian stocks where effected by Energy and Materials. So I love that you answer the odd question about U.S. stocks,it gives me some names to do homework on.
