What are your thoughts on Falcon Oil and Gas, with regards to the farm out deal that just occurred? Would this be a good long term play? and with this deal, has this company been substantially de risked?

Q: David Maris of BMO is quoted as saying:
"As of now, we think the Valeant bid stands at a less than 50% probability of being successful, and we base this on our belief that the cost cuts announced are not credible.” There's also discussion about an Allergan golf course in California that may or may not exist (how could such a thing be hidden from public view?). This is the same guy who exposed Biovail's contorted explanation as to why they missed earnings, so he would seem to have some credibility. Also Bill Acker's past record on acquisitions is far from perfect.

I still hold VRX from the 2012-13 model portfolio. Would it be better to stand aside with this latest revelation? Thanks, J.

LNR: This is a question about trading Linamar. Looking at Level II, most trades are always for 100 shares, and maybe the odd 200 lot, or 50. How is it that the share price rises so much (3% at this writing) on such small lot sizes? What don't I understand?

Q: This is in response to Dave's earlier question re: Stop Losses/Limits

A very simplified way of thinking of the orders is like this:

Stop Loss orders generally guarantee that your order will be filled - however, there is NO guarantee that it will be at the price you specified. (In the case of a rapidly falling stock price, there's a very good chance that your fill price will be BELOW your specified stop loss price. This usually happens when there is bad news: earnings misses, Sino Forest type situations etc.)

Stop Limits generally guarantee the PRICE of your order - but NOT that the order itself will even be filled. (Again, when there is a rush to exit a stock, there's a good chance that the limit order will be by-passed altogether and one is then exposed to whatever market risk is at hand at that time.)

I have been following the Utility Sector with interest.(Both in the stock market and my monthly bill). I see in your model income portfolio you have BEP.UN and SPB. Within the sector, could you rank the top four stocks to consider and the bottom four to ignore for now. A very short explanation would help. I am looking for long term stability and reasonable yield in a non registered account. I also see various high numbers for BEP.UN's PE Ratio. What does your research show it to be? Many thanks Paul

Q: Parkland has been on a steady drop for the month of April any insight for that ?

Q: Any comments you might have on American Vanadium (AVC) would be appreciated. I have a small speculative position : 1) like the fact that it is developing what they claim to be the only primary vanadium mine in the U.S., 2 ) that it also is in partnership with a German manufacturer, & markets/sells their batteries designed for large capacity energy storage and energy sources such as wind and solar, which given the US interest in energy self sufficiency should be gaining traction and 3) now it appears that Dundee is taking a more active role.
As always, I would value your opinion on whether you think this company has reasonable possibilities in the future.

I have some shares in Spartan Energy Corp (SPE) and I want to add some more in the next 3-6 months. I was wondering what are their current metrics. Price to earnings, price to cash flow, their overall debt amount and any other metrics I should be considering.
