Q: Hi 5i: Just a comment relating to your recent mention of Bankers Petroleum (BNK) as maybe riskier than oil producers with primarily Canadian operations. Your point makes sense from a political perspective but I've been thinking about whether having some diversification away from the North American (WTI) commodity market may help to smooth things out for people with oil production exposure. It seems like some pundits are forecasting periods of much lower WTI pricing as the NA oil glut develops over the next few years. I think Brent oil pricing has some history of maintaining higher levels while WTI has dipped. Thanks.

Q: How do you figure out if a company is earning enough to pay its dividend? Is the earnings per share value after the dividend is paid out? I am not talking about a oil/gas stock but just a regular equity. STB specifically.

Q: I have always been leery of investing in the auto industry because of its cyclicality. However, you have been quite positive on three companies - Magna, Linamar and AutoCanada.

I have a two part question. Which do you prefer between Magna and Linamar and secondly, if I purchased one of those companies, should I expect it to react similarly to changing economic conditions as ACQ would (ignoring any company specific issues)?

Q: Hi
I was wondering if I should sell IPL in my rrsp to buy VNR.
IPL has done very well over the past year. VNR has a higher dividend but is actually down over the past year.
Which do you think would have the greatest upside over the next 3 years?

Q: re: CGX

my question July 9 asked about the effects NetFlix/HBO types of products might be having on the box office. you mentioned that shouldn't be a concern but, you also mentioned "the box office this year is not as strong as expected..." and you didn't have any concerns on CGX right now in general.

Today CGX is down to it's lowest value since Sept 2013. I have to wonder if my money might not be better put to work in another company. I have this feeling if I sit on this long term I could very well continue to see a slow decline in value.

What are your thoughts after reading my comments?

Q: I would appreciate your assessment of Bonavista (BNP) prospects. I've held it for several years and am underwater about 15%. They recently did an unusual thing and cancelled their DRIP for the stated reason that their cash flow had improved and the DRIP was no longer necessary. would I be wiser to take a tax loss and switch into Surge? Thanks

Q: My question is on PGF. On June 24th they had a press release that had a headlined Pengrowth Energy Corp. (PGH) Increases Value of 2P Reserves at Lindbergh to $2.2B Their Lindbergh project should be complete first quarter 2015. From what I read in this press release...its pretty good news and I would anticipate that the stock price should have a very good turn to the upside in 2015. However I am no expert and would value your opinion. Thanks
