Q: There have been exchanges of information on BCE floating rate pfd's and D was suggested as a pure floater, suitable for one of my needs. BCE has information on their pfds in chart form. In that form, under pfd D, the following appears under "Divedend Terms". (D is under the AD heading)

Until March 1, 2018, series AD shareholders are entitled to receive monthly, floating adjustable cash dividends computed in accordance with the terms and conditions attached to such shares.

With this wealth of information in mind, I went to the 2013 annual report for enlightenment. Here's the clarifying quote.

Holders of series S,Y,AB,AD,AE,AN and AT are entitled to floating, adjustable cumulative monthly dividends. The floating dividend on these shares is calculated every month, as set out in BCE's articles of amalgamation, as amended.

Well, that's certainly worth knowing. I wouldn't want to receive a dividend which was calculated under any old terms.

Perhaps you folks could help. I only want to know what happens to the BCE D's on March 1, 2018 and subsequently, if mentioned.

Thanks. Tim......

Q: Peter and Co.
Wayne asked about CI financial(CIX) today 15 May. In your reply you mentioned that Scotiabank (BNS) had bought Dundee of which I was not aware. I also read approximately 3 weeks ago that the Dundee companies were hard to analyse/understand. I wonder if you could give me your opinion of Dundee. I have DI and D. Thanks in advance. Your work is very much appreciated.

Hi There
Leaving aside sector type and geography, which are the three or four most important financial parameters in assessing a REIT for sustained income and a little growth and what would be the limiting min or max values?

Q: BAD - I have two problems. First, the $7.4M charge represents 33% of cash flow. Second, the DU liability is valued at another $21M as a current liability on the B/S. How do I estimate the cash flow impact of the plan as it continues to vest? Rewarding mgmt for stock performance is great and aligns their interests with mine, but when 33% of the operating cash flow disappears I become a little concerned. Plus I cannot get a handle on the future liability this plan represents.

Q: The ‘don’t buy’ category of ‘C’

Just reading your new LIQ report, and noticed this remark. I hadn't realized there might be verbal interpretations of the high school grades. Is there a section somewhere on what the letter grades might infer?
Or, obviously we should just read the whole report each time to understand the nuances of each situation.

Thanks,
Marilyn
