Vanguard Dividend Appreciation FTF (VIG $224.76)
Also could you give me your favourite dividend aristocrat etf. And do you consider this etf more conservative than a regular dividend etf.
Thanks for your help over the years, Merry Christmas
We would suggest VIG (US) and CDZ (Canada) for dividend aristocrat ETFs. We would consider each 'a bit' more conservative than a regular dividend ETF. However, this comes at a cost of yield, as dividend growth stocks tend to have lower yields (but higher long term growth). We are comfortable with both TIP and ZTIP. They do offer some inflation protection and ease of taxes. In 2022, many were disappointed at the performance of inflation-linked ETFs. TIPS fell 17.62% that year. But it was an unusual period for bonds and the drop reflected unusual shifts in the yield curve and not specifically anything wrong with the ETF set up. Still, it is something to note. But all bonds were weak that year and also in 2021 and 2023.
