Q: Hi 5i Team - I've become interested in a cyber security company called Cohere Technology. The Canadian Government, Bell Canada and RBC have all committed to using Cohere's solutions in their cyber security defense efforts. Also the Canadian Government has planned to invest in this company.

It looks like Cohere is a private company. Do you know of any publicly traded company that has invested in Cohere or are there possible plans for an IPO. Or is there any other way for a small retail investor to get involved.
Thanks.

5i Research Answer:

Cohere is still private, but several publicly traded companies have invested in or partnered with it, and its CEO has stated that an IPO is on the horizon “soon.” As a small retail investor today, the only practical exposure is indirect, via those public backers and partners; direct ownership of Cohere shares is generally limited to accredited investors in the private market. Some brokerages 'may' have access to private sellers, but they do not advertise this typically, as it can be a rare occurrence. NVDA and AMD are known investors, and ORCL is a 'partner'. But we would not see these as the best way to play Cohere since their interest would not be material to them in any way. No IPO documents have been filed at this time. Investors could contact the company to see if there are any brokers in touch with private sellers. STCK is a Canadian public company that invests in private companies, but it has not disclosed a position in Cohere at this time.

Authors of this answer, directors, partners and/or officers of 5i Research and/or affiliated companies have a financial or other interest in NVDA.
