5i Research Answer:

US investors love to hate Canadian banks, with memories of 2008. But our sector is much different than that in the US. No banks failed in 2008 and it has been decades since even a small bank failed. Not to say they are risk free, but with mortgage insurance and a strong deposit base (unlike US regionals) our banks are simply stronger, on average. We have a different regulatory regime as well. Also, right now, valuations are historically low and reflect a lot of concern already. We like EQB, but would not consider it the safest bank. That would be RY.
