Q: I would like clarification on hedging when buying USD securities via a CDN ETF: if the USD is going up and by comparison the loonie going down is it to your advantage to buy a hedged product or not? I am a little confused as I am sure there are times when hedged is good, and others, when it is not? Intuition tells me know is the time for hedged to protect loonie denominated ETF holding USD securities. The ETF XHY holds Us corp.: with interest rates going up in very small increments in the USA this should cause bond yields to go up as people move their money somewhere else - or not?

Q: Could you comment on $PFB as a short or medium term investment. does the recent transaction, acquiring Poly Foam Inc add value to the company.
Q: Can one sell a stock within a RSP or TFSA and immediately purchase the same stock in a non sheltered account.
There would be no loss claimed obviously.

Q: what are your thoughts on the Disney Downgrade last week? Especially with what looks to be a big success in star wars so far. Is there alot to be concerned about with weakness in espn subscribers?

Q: Thanks to 5i I have significant large gains in CSU and ESL which I have owned for many years. Is it possible to protect those gains through put options or some other strategy? I do not want to sell CSU or ESL shares as they are such great companies. Thank you, Peter
Q: Hi 5i: There are actually two questions, which for me are linked. First, could I have your opinion on Adobe Systems. It seems expensive (not surprising) but maybe not so much given good growth. Second, how do you think Disney will fare with respect to the ESPN issue - I have heard differing opinions on the likely impact. I am considering at least a partial switch from DI to ADBE and would value your opinion. Roland
Merry Xmas to all, and thanks for the great help over the last year.

Q: I want to add another dividend stock to my reits and, after checking out over half a dozen, have been considering dipping a $15G toe into Dream Global. TD has a buy on it and BMO rates it at 3X. Your thoughts? Thanks, as always, and have a Merry Christmas. -Ted
Q: In your response to Marc about the C$, you state ... "If the Canadian dollar rises, you will want to have a C$ hedged ETF". Can you pick a couple of ETF's that could benefit with a bottoming out C$.
Q: Seasons Greetings Peter and 5I team!
I am looking to identify the proverbial “baby(s) that got thrown out with the bathwater” in the Canadian mining sector. It feels like this sector is “washed out” and that there may be oversold equities that are beginning to turn-around. What is your opinion?
On reading through your recent history answering questions on Lundin Mining, I sense that you have had some comfort with this company’s turn-around prospects. Would you kindly offer your comments on LUN’s current outlook.
Is LUN’s cash flow is expected to pick-up in the near term. Is it expensive based on current earnings? If so, are there any catalysts for organic growth to spur their earnings?
Are you able to identify which base metals are expected to be in shortage in the next year or two, and for which of these does LUN have capacity to meet market demand?
With respect to the base metals producers, what are the key factors to guide whether it is timely to wade back into this sector?
In your opinion, what companies in this sector appear to be poised to be recognized by the market to lead the turn-around in this sector? For example, although FM and HBM are debt laden, despite the likely impact of increasing interest rates negatively impacting their debt, what metals do they primarily produce that you think will sufficiently help them to handle to offset their debt burden?
If necessary, please feel free to deduct more than one credit for this inquiry. My thanks for your help.

Q: BPF.Un is per forming very poorly especially compared to A&W in more or less the same business. Their reported Q3 loss was related to "fair value adjustments" - which I do not understand. Is there more to this than just the pizza business?? I am showing a significant loss. Your suggestions, please.

I'm thinking of adding to my positions.
What do you think of the last Q3 #'s and do buy into JC's long term turn around strategy?
