Q: Hi Peter and Team,
I am reviewing my portfolio for 2014.
I hold MRG.UN 5% position (down 10%)purchased as a US housing play it is not recovering although Tricon a similar play seems better suited.
BBD.B, I am also down 10% and the stock don't seem to act positively after continuous bad news on the C10 plane

I would like your opinion on my intention to sell both and your suggestions for replacements in the same categories( industrial and US home recovery.
Thanks for your excellent service.

Q: BBD.PR.B perpetual, cumulative, floating at Prime, Preferred from Bombardier
Would this preferred share be a good long term holding? With a current yield of ~5.25%, when BOC does finally increase the overnight lending rate, each quarter point increase bumps up the monthly dividend. With $20 billion on the order books, the company looks safe for paying the dividends. Please give me your thoughts.

Q: BBD.A Bombardier I know you are not particular about this stock (tried looking up past comments BBD.A but search was empty -- not sure why). But looking at various parts of the air industry it seems everything has been on a tear. Cyclically speaking do think this an interesting time for air industry? If so, why would BBD.A be the one to avoid?

Q: 5i Team,

I know you are not a fan of Bombardier. Too big a float, historical screw ups etc, but I was still surprised to read your 'let it go' comment to the previous question below, especially considering that it seems to have broken out of the $5 range funk, has the C-Series flying, gaining traction in China, and in general, seems to have a lot of positive momentum - I know your team loves momentum!

I have a 5% holding in BBD.B (which is part of a 15% industrial sector weighting in my portfolio, others are MDA, Magna and Caterpiller). Should I 'let BBD.B go' and rotate into something else? It's ok to be blunt and to the point with me, am I dumb to hold BBD over other 5i names like Stantec, Boyd, Macro? I'm also underwieght in health care and am looking at Paladin and Athena. You guys have more than earned my trust, what would you do with that 5% BBD holding? I want growth, and lots of it!!!! :)

Q: Hi Peter, how does one know whether or not there are too many shares outstanding for a company? For example, in a previous question regarding Bombardier, you said that they have too many shares outstanding. How can I know that Bell, Rogers, or any other company has too many shares outstanding? Is there some sort of calculations to apply? Thanks Gervais

Q: I have owned BBD.PR.C for a few years now, it has been a "steady Eddy" paying approx a 6% dividend. It is redeemable at 25$, does that mean that eventually the company has to redeem at the issue price or do they have other options, and what are your views on it for the income portion of a portfolio?

Q: Hello Peter and 5i Team,
Do you see much more upside to Bombardier, bbd.b.
I am currently up 20% on this one and wondering what your thoughts are with regards to potential upside considering the delays testing the new aircraft. They are releasing results in a couple weeks and was thinking of selling prior to the announcement.

Any thoughts / advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

Q: Peter and team,

I'm a new member and first off just want to say that I find the info and responses provided on the website to be awesome. Easy to understand, thoughtful but to the point. I've watched Peter on BNN over the past couple of years, and always came away impressed with what you had to say, very glad that I finally made the decision to sign up with 5i.

Enough butt kissing, my question is on Bombardier. I consider Bombardier to be a core 2-5 year holding in my portfolio (currently slightly above my equal weight of 5%). My rationale is 3 fold, 1. trading near historical lows, 2. healthy pipeline of contracts, 3. Heavy political support for the company, and aerospace industry as a whole. Having said that, its still aerospace and therefore a huge risk.

What are your opinions of this company looking out in the mid term, 2-5 years, and even the Canadian aerospace industry for that matter? Are you with this as a core holding, or recommend that I look elsewhere for my Aerospace needs (ie. your recommended MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates Ltd.)?

Thanks!

Ray
