The Big 5 banks also control brokerage firms in which I have all my assets (stocks, RSP, TFSA, etc). If the bank did get into difficulty would my above assets be at risk. Further to this what independent brokerages are there that would not subject me to this and also offer online trading?
Look forward to your response as this as you can appreciate is becoming a major concern for me.

Q: Hi, I have a question regarding investment strategy. I heard that you shouldn't invest more than 5% in any stock and I also herd that you should only hold about 5 to 7 quality stocks. That accounts for 35% or my portfolio. My question is...what do I do with the other 65% of my portfolio? Should I be investing that portion or is it better to leave it. Q: Any opinion on AQA? The company suggests they have 900,000 ounces of gold, Hudbay spent some development money but decided not to proceed. I realize Hudbay has its challenges and is trying to develop a much bigger deposit in South America I think. I suppose AQA is "dead-in-water" for the forseeable future.
