Q: Hi 5i Team,

I had a question about FAM REIT, I realize it is small and a little higher risk. My question is with regards to their dividend is it sustainable now with the higher payout ratio and what about for the long term?

I recently opened a joint account funded with cash for my wife and myself. We're starting with a clean slate as we've liquidated some other less interesting holdings to fund the new account.

We're both in our late 30s and will continue to add funds to this account as we can.

From the model portfolio, what holdings would you start with? Our account isn't big enough yet to buy board lots of all of model.

Looking for 5 things that we could buy now.

We already hold BNS, ENB, ESL, and T from the model portfolio.

Q: Hi, I'm interested in the following US stocks - Kimberly-Clark and Colgate Palmolive. Do you have any advice or comments based on current stock price ie would you lean to a "buy", or favour something else in the sector. I already own Proctor and Gamble.

Saw your answer for Rita re the MS and your comment to reallocate into stocks that "are lagging."

Could you give us a few examples of your opinion re which equities you would consider are lagging?

I'm always a little hesitant to ask about U$ equities as you have stated in the past you're not necessarily following US companies as closely BUT, you were planning on doing more so in the future.

Having said that, if you could please give an opinion the following comment and your thoughts on Exxon in general.

Comment... Oil requirement expectations have been reduced recently and Exxon is down 8% since 3rd week July. At this point I am breaking even not counting a fairly good dividend. And I read a report recently that money would be better spent on Canadian O&G rather than U$.

Do you expect Exxon to improve once we get past Sept & Oct? Would your advice be to sell/hold or buy XOM at this time? And do you think the Canadian O&G is a better place to be for capital growth in comparison to Royal Dutch/CVX/XOM etc...?

Q: Would you please put in the name of the company as well as the call letters. It is much easier, especially for some stocks that are not real common. It seems to go good for a couple months, then reverts back to a lot of call numbers, Thanks Ken

I own Cineplex CGX for quite a while and I'm wondering whether to hold or sell. Granted you have rated it A- for all the good reasons you mentioned in your report (and I agree with them); but all it takes is one so-so season (poor content) for the stock to take a tumble. Given that, how can one intelligently forecast future revenues and earnings?

Q: I am looking at adding to my holding in SJ. In your report you mentioned the 38% ownership by SJ Intl (Glasgow Scotland). Would you expect any impact on the stock price from a YES vote simply because of Scottish ownership? Given the growing strength of the US $ what impact would that have on the stock? Lastly what kind of revenue and eps growth would you see over the next couple of years.

Saw your comment a few days ago. I am seriously considering a position in Linamar because I believe the auto industry has a bright future in the next couple of years and I feel Magna is a little pricey at it's current levels which leaves Linamar as an alternative for getting involved.

I think I know the answer to your opinion re: my comment on a the bright future. Do you think my comment on Magna is accurate? And with keeping in mind the Sept market blues (as usual) we are seeing right now, would your advice be to buy Linamar now, wait and see or not buy?

Q: DOO BRP has hit a new low today. Back in April you had some nice words to say about this stock in the Q&A. Well, you liked it better than the parent Co. -- which may be damning with faint praise considering how much you dislike the Bomber. What do you think is the problem with DOO and what do you think of it? It is seasonal!

Financials represent only 8.2% of my RRIF portfolio; they comprise BNS, EFN, HCG and TD. To gain some exposure to lifecos, I think of adding SLF.

Q: Convertible Debt: Boyd Group or other.

Am I right in saying that if a person is not trying to mitigate downside risk or looking for income, buying the equity should always carry a higher "expected value" return than convertible debt?
