Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: In October 2024 in reply to a question about an AI etf you replied:

The Canadian field is very limited and all funds are too small for our liking right now. We would recommend: BOTZ, AIQ, and IRBO which are USD funds. RBOT is a CAD-hedged option and CIAI is an unhedged CAD option; both however are too small for our liking.

Is that still the case that there is only RBOT as a cdn hedged option? Any other updtes to that question: I want to buy an AI ETF.

Q: Hello 5i Team, Happy New Year! I have a diversified portfolio with plenty of tech exposure and S&P. We are looking into Sector based ETFs. Based on this environment, which one would you recommend out of these - XAD, HBGD, TECI, CHIPS, TEC, XEXP, FOUR, RBOT. Or, would you recommend any other sector ETF?

As always, thanks for your valuable insights.

Best, AJ

Q: I'm new here so I'm hoping these two questions will be phrased properly and not too general. Please let me know if this is the case. Thank you in advance.
1) The performance of the US markets seems to be much better than TSX in the longer term. Should an average investor consider focusing mostly on US holdings instead of Canadian stocks?

2) I would like to get your opinion on HBGD in terms of potential returns, how risky is this ETF and what role could it play in an average investor's portfolio within a 7-8-year timeframe before when decumulation begins.

Note this is for an RRSP account.
Thank you in advance for any insight. Cheers.

Q: I’m looking for some niche type ETF’s that would have companies that supply electrical parts,/equipment suppliers for the electrical infrastructure build that many people are suggesting is coming. It would possibly hold companies like WIRE.
Also if there is an ETF that would contain companies that will benefit from the large data centres that AI companies will require to be built. This ETF would hold companies like FIX.
If there are none than maybe you could drop a few names under each category. HPS.A has been a great find. Thank you. Looking for others in the same field.
