Q: Hello,
I would like to hold the model portfolio but have to add them over time. I am interested in starting the first couple in either growth or income. Out of the model portfolio, which stocks would you recommend that I add first?

Q: I'm thinking of loaning my son- a university student, $50,000 to invest to help pay for school and pay a lot less tax than me! What 2 or 3 stocks would you suggest to generate income and capital gains but not too risky? I was thinking TD, BNS, crescent point.

Q: Pundits seem to recommend BNS, TD & RY. I have BMO and CM, both of them paying better dividends than the other three. I also notice that, when bank stocks go up, BMO goes up more than BNS and goes down less when bank stocks drop. Comment?

Q: Hi Peter,
In our children's in-trust accounts, I am currently considering replacing CPX (Capital Power) which has a stable dividend but low growth with BNS (Scotiabank) for a bit more growth as well as a stable dividend. Please comment. Thanks!

Q: ZWB versus Bank of Nova Scotia for my Dad, my kids RESP or myself. The banking portion of a
healthy 90 year old's well balanced successful portfolio, wouldn't mind some cash flow and to maintain initial investment. Well balanced RESP, 1/2 is laddered bonds, will need the funds in 2-7 years, have 12.5% in ZWB, should it change to BNS? For myself, 15 years before I need cash, well balanced portfolio - ZWB vs BNS?

Q: i've been buried by a well known mutual fund, pur.@ $72+ and now heading towards $25. i see no future in the precious metals sector or in recovering any investment dollars.i was thinking of selling and buying several hundred shares of bns with whats left.good idea? or wait.talk about wanting to sick up.

Q: Hey Peter. Masterful job on MarketCall.

Question on strategy: Seeing the larger discount, than its historical average compared to its peers, I am accumulating a position in National Bank. If I get to a full position (5% of my portfolio) and the large discount remains compared to its peers, would you overweight National Bank or would you start accumulating a second bank, as they also seem to look attractive at these levels. Currently National Bank is my only financial.

Q: Reading your response on National bank (NA) dating Feb 21, 2013, you were right on the money re its growth outlook. Their financial results were somewhat "boring" - neither up/nor down which is in-line with your comments. Other than distributino of dividends (and possibly peace of mind), would you see any other reason to own this stock. Some of the other banks such as TD and RBC seem to be firing on all cylinders. And would Scotia or one of the other banks probably offer a good mix between National Bank and one at the opposite extreme? Thanks again.
