Q: Hi,
What is your opinion on stock picking vs ETF investing. How many ETF's should one hold in a portfolio of say $100k. What would your ETF recommendations be for such a portfolio as there are so many of them out there and it is difficult to choose one from the other.

Q: I have a large position in Baytex, and it is very much underwater now, but I do like the good dividend. Scotia Capital rates BTE 'Outperform', Cannacord Adams calls it a Buy, but Ford Equity Research rates it a Sell. I'd very much appreciate your opinion of BTE. Thanks.
Q: Hello team - As you know, Badger Daylighting has done very well. It's value has become a larger percentage of my portfolio than what I had planned for. I am considering selling a portion and pay the capital gain. If the stock were to drop significantly for whatever reason, can one buy back the stock within 30 days? I'm assuming that a rule does not exist as the 30 day taxable loss rule. This is a taxable account.
Thanks.
Jim
Thanks.

Q: I don't think MBT will be raising my dividend with some of that Allstream money. Where would you re-deploy the capital for a rising stream of income? It does not have to be a telecom. Also, the market is relatively high now, would you hold off on the buying and wait for a correction?

Q: Hello Peter and staff. Apologies if you already received this I tried to send it yesterday but my session timed out. Can you please comment on TRH.UN Triax Diversified High Yield Trust. I have held it since 2009 so I am up nicely. It has a 7.8% yield and is now 2.4% of my LIRA. I recognize some obvious risks being; High Yield, Fairly small and a thin trader. Should I continue to hold? Thanks again for your excellent advice.
Q: Is it too late to pick up some shares of Magna? The last time you commented on it was in January and it has done very well since then. Thanks for your answer. Lesley
Q: VRX financial situation doesn't look great with EPS -$0.42, profit margin -3.48%,return on asset 3.94%, P/B 7.36, P/S 6.25, total debt 10.62B.
Previous president of Bioval said growth through acquisitions as done by Valeant is not sustainable.
How a company in so mediocre financial situation can consider buying Bausch & Lomb ?

Q: FNMA FMCC
These two mortgage companies had a great run in the last month. Is it because US mortgage is making a turnaround, and these two have been sold down to ridiculously level, or it all a hype?
Mahendra Sharma is very bullish on these two stocks and looking for $30 or higher.

Q: I have subscribed to various investment letters in the past and at some point-it was always the lack of follow up or the inability to get any further input on the proposed investment. You are on to something good here and it is also affordable.
Thanks Warren

Q: Hello Peter and the 5i team: Your new report on AVO is very informative. I've observed that many of your stock picks have a beta of less than one, according to the TMX website. As a retiree wishing for lower volatility, this is important to me. When I look at the beta for AVO, it is a negative value (-0.229). Does this imply that AVO is a very stable stock? The concept of negative beta is confusing! Thanks in advance.
Q: I have noticed that in your reports stability is shown as OK, Good, Medium. There may be others too. Could you clarify what stability refers to and what the rankings can be from low to high.
Thanks

Q: Hi Peter:
I have owned a good chunk of BHP for several years, which has never showed much sparkle. A plus for BHP is having positions in many varied commodities. Do you think there are better options in or out of this sector (I do realize the current funk this segment is in).
Keep up the great work
