Q: Hi There
You seem comfortable with the common stock, based on a couple of recent questions. I'm wondering, before I buy some, why the pref has been on such a steady long term decline . Am I missing something with the generous pref yield?

Q: I have been told that a major bank in Canada is advising its clients to significantly increase cash positions in their investment accounts. The bank's view was that there will be a significant market correction in Canada. What is your opinion about the Canadian market and their advice? Thanks!

Q: MIC and HCG are both half positions in equity income with growth RRSP with 20+ diversified portfolio. With change in "climate" in Alberta, I am thinking of selling MIC and buying HCG. Makes sense? Your take please.....thanks.....Tom

Q: I would like your take on 3 US stocks held in a diversified US big cap growth equity portfolio. I am thinking of transferring out of these 3 because of the change in the last year of the likely overall growth, globally, at least from by point of view, and the resulting lower demand for these companies products. The stocks are CAT-N (construction machinery), and CMI-N and DCI-N, both diversified machinery...... Guess it is about a change in portfolio mix, eh?!....Thanks

Q: I would like to invest in health care sector in my registered account. Should I buy XLV or PSCH. Which of these ETFs would have more growth? Alternatively, you could recommend another ETF or individual stocks. My weighting in health care is insignificant at this time.

RDM Corp. (TSX: RC) is trading at new highs this year on no news which begs the question could this Company be a take out target this year given 100% of its business is in the USA. What do you think RDM is worth on take out given the company holds about US $23M in cash and is debt free too?

Q: I had free cash and couldn't resist the temptation of buying on decline, so I ended up with almost 20% position on energy. Here are my energy stocks: double pos-s: PEY and HSE, full pos-s: CNQ, HWO, HNL, WCP, half pos-s: BDI, SGY, BNK. Could you please rate these stocks by growth potential and by safety - I assume CNQ and HSE are the safest there, but what about the rest? Unless there are really big risks I am not planning to sell - will wait until oil goes up, hopefully within 5 years.

Q: I have a very small weighting in Materials in my portfolio (1.3% thru ADN). I was thinking of selling ADN (I'm up about 7% including the dividend in 2 years) and building a position in either FM, WEF or both. My current portfolio weightings (TFSA, RRSP, LIRA) are 18.6% Financials, 8% Healthcare, 1.6% Industrial, 24.6% Technology, 14.4% Consumer Staples and Discretionary, 5% Energy and 26.7% Cash; all mixed between blue chips and smaller growth companies. I have a 20+ year time horizon. Do you have any other suggestions to deploy about 20% of the cash and some potential stocks to buy. I'm looking for more growth and I am not adverse to risk.

Q: Is this deal now final or is there still risk of failing. Also with BCE share price at 58.57 is the total consideration going to be more than 26.5. Would you recommend buying for short term gain till the thing is final
