Q: Hi 5i,
Subject to the usual reservations about it not being a stock that you cover and being a US stock as well, what do you think of Western Digital’s situation at present? I’ve held it for a long time because I like data storage as a longer term theme but, if you look at a multi-year chart on it, it seems to have run all the way to the top of the mountain and nearly half-way back down. The result appears to be an increasingly significant dividend yield (2.8%) and an increasingly attractive P/E (11.6x according to my online broker). But are they likely to run into shrinking earnings that would call both of those measures into question? Are there other measures that may indicate I should be re-examining the investment thesis at this point? Thanks!

Q: I have been following news releases from this company for about six months and noticed that the last question posed to, and response from, 5i was back on Feb 11, 2014. Things appear to be looking up (pun) since then in terms of landing (another pun) a couple of orders, one from Lockheed Martin (aircraft mfger). Is it time to re-consider this speculative investment? The sky would appear to be the limit. Your thoughts please.

I am more than confused about this fund. Could you shed any light on why it would trade so much lower than its NAV? Based on earlier comments by you, I have a better understanding why it would be recommended by an IA but am pleased to hear that you like the managers. Could you also let me know if the fund is redeemable once a year or once a month? It looks like I may be holding it for the long term now and should enjoy the dividend, which hopefully continues.

I have been following the recent debacle in this company and am aware that market sentiment is negative.However,looks like the fundamentals are strong ,management has proven itself in the past,and the company is poised to grow and turn a profit in 2016.Is this a value trap at these levels or a great buy due to "irrational" behaviour from sellers.When would be a strong signal to BUY?

Q: I own shares in Strad Energy Services. As you know Total Energy was in the process of making a takeover bid for their shares at $2.90 per share with 35 day expiry date. Strad in turn adopted a poison pill making any bid open for 120 days. Total Energy then said that they will not pursue a takeover bid. Based on your experience do you think there is a high likelihood that another bid may be coming? Is a 35 day expiry date reasonable? Was 120 days excessive? What would you recommend doing at this time?

Q: What are your feeling regarding POT's debt levels and any other "survival" metrics. I have no issue holding it thru volatility with this dividend, I
just want to feel comfortable that it will make it to the other side of the storm. What grade would you give it?

Q: i am looking for a short term instrument to park money in till market settles down. FHY doesn't appear very liquid. Any thing you might suggest like this
