Q: i view myself as a fairly seasoned investor, but concordia has me stumped, they are raising money at 86.50 a share, supposedly the issue is 2 times oversubscribed.
so the stock opened down friday am and proceeded to go down 22 points before rebounding and closing down 12. my question is why would anyone participate in the share issue when they could buy the stock at a massive discount on friday or even this monday-- makes no sense. i did buy more myself when cxr was down 18 but the whole experience as peter would say is wonki, was it hedge funds in u.s. sitting on cxr on friday-- i think so and certainly hilary did not help.dave

Q: In the future as the debt is significantly paid down they would become a cash cow. If so do think they would then pay a dividend and if so could you project when.

Back in Febuary, I bought DML for 1.13 a share, thinking it was't a bad deal because it's 52 week low was 1.02. Now if this merger goes though Denison will do a 2 for 1 share consolidation, and fission shareholders will get 1.26 shares of Denison for 1 share of fission. Should I be selling my denison and buying Fission shares to save my capital?

Q: An area that I find difficult in investing is when to sell. Just a suggestion but would make for a very interesting subject for a blog.

Q: Could I please have your thoughts on the new Questrade Etf's QMV and QTI. Qmv seems to hold basically the IWS index whereas the QRI holds over a hundred individual companies. Given that these are relatively new ETF's, I'm somewhat unsure given the market caps/costs.

Q: I have been sitting on the sidelines for a few months and have only dabbled in the market since March/April. Im glad I held off. I think I would like to get in now.But have no problem waiting if that is prudent. I have done this before and missed a few opportunities.
I am looking for a 3 year Horizon - maybe up to 5 years as a stretch.
How would I deploy funds in todays market between the portfolios you have helped us with to balance risk. Im hoping for a 12 to 15% return overall.
How would I time it. I was thinking a controlled plan to invest over the next months to average the risk in a volatile market. I was also curious about your thoughts of a cash percent to keep some gunpowder dry for opportunities.

Q: Do you have any idea who could be selling 4.7 million CXR shares today in the US market? Given an average daily trading volume of 10k shares, this looks much beyond a response to biotech/pharma weakness. According to the Sept 8 press release, it looks like Cinven would have a lock-up on their 8.5M shares. Is it possible the underwriters were selling today just to exit their position on the new offering? Thanks.

I want to diversify my portfolio into the Industrial, Healthcare[REIT], Telecom, and Consumer sectors. My portfolio is designed to give steady reliable dividend income as we are both retired.

Currently I have :

Industrials - nothing
Healthcare [REIT] - CSH.UN [3.4%]
Telecom - BCE [4.9%], T [2.0%]
Consumer - CSW-A [3.2% ], NWC [2.6% ], RPI-UN [0.74% ], AW-UN [2.4% ], DHX-B [1.7% ].

I am trying to find companies in these 4 sectors that have the Size, Stability, Dividend Yields over 4%, and Safety, as nearly comparable to the big Canadian Banks as possible, but I am having a hard time finding additional companies. Do I just add to the ones I already own? What would you suggest.

Also what percent sector allocations are reasonable for these sectors for a permanent Seniors' Income Portfolio?

Q: This is Bill Ackman's hedge fund. The returns look very interesting, but I can't access any research reports, including even consensus numbers. Q: Would you be able to give your forecast on the state of the US debt and what might happen in December when they will be deciding to raise the debt ceiling. How much will it affect the currency exchange rate and also the Feds decision to probably raise rates will be around the same time. Or in other words do I hold tight on my US holdings or take my profits over the next month or so and reinvest after their decision?

Q: I have 5 different ETF that are hedged to the Canadian dollar. As I understand you prefer not to hedge especially when the Canadian dollar is falling. Would it be better to sell these ETF and invest in ETF's that are not hedge?

Q: David Bassov asserted that AYA's entry into NJ would happen in Q3. That timing is now down to the wire. How do you think it will affect the stock if approval doesn't occur by then? What would this result do to DB's reputation? And finally, do you think there is still chance for approval?

I just recently read a report (thomson reuters)dated sept.25.They have given Intertain a score 3 out of 10.Not a glowing report which may account for some of the weakness.Do you have any comment on this report? Thank You
