Can you share your thoughts on FireEye's quarterly results yesterday? With a half position in, is this a time to buy the other half following the decline? Could you also offer thoughts on Halyard Health growth prospects (recent spinoff from ? Would it be considered a growth company looking 2 years down the road (not considering Ebola effects)?
Q: After doubling on DHX I painfully sold half to address balance issues in my portfolio.Do you have another idea that could be as successful as Dhx regardless of sector(excluding energy).Just a comment, after this latest correction it became evident that my portfolio has to many Canadian stocks.TSE is not a diversified exchange and many good Canadian stocks where effected by Energy and Materials. So I love that you answer the odd question about U.S. stocks,it gives me some names to do homework on.
Q: This is a 2-1/2% weighting in my portfilio actually in the wife's tfsa. We have held it for about 4 years and are down about 70%, is it worth holding onto?
Q: Hi Peter, prior to the Q3 results you were advising to hold to see how the quarter would play out. Now that Q3 has been reported and the results were positive, would you recommend accumulating again for a long term hold as I only have a 1/4 position so far.
Q: Just wondering what your opinion is on SUM, CLR, NRI and MRI.U? Also, two I hold, SYZ and XPO US. Is it better to buy a stock with good earning that are up 10% or buy a stock which missed earnings down 10%?
Thanks,
Dennis
Q: We have only a 5% exposure to Real Estate and would like to sell D.UN, (about 1.4%) in a taxable account for tax loss purposes. Can I replace with another REIT holding before the 30 day period and if so what would you recommend? Thanks for the excellent service.
Q: Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A) was highly recommended on BNN last night. What is the difference between RDS.A and RDS.B? Is this a safe long term bet and which one, if any, would you buy?
Thanks.
I am a big time fantasy football player as are an estimated 33 million other people... This new application developed by SPY called Breaking Sports appears to be validating big time the true financial aspects behind fantasy sports and the billions invested annually.
Id like to know what 5i thinks of SPY moving forward and if you are aware of any other software developments they may be looking at down the road. And would you consider SPY a sell, hold or buy at these levels.
I am down 87% on this stock and I learnt my lesson not to speculate again. I have 4 questions:
1- Why the steady drop since July? 2- What is the likely future for this company? 3- Is bankruptcy a real likelihood? 4- should I hang on or take what is left of this disaster story and call it a good lesson?
I did a simple screen of US stocks and came across this one with a low PE (below 10) and a modest dividend (above 2%). Why has it performed so poorly and is it reasonably safe to invest for the medium term?
Q: I am a risky investor and was thinking to buy AVO last week but due to market volatility and specially volatility in AVO, I avoided it and today when I refreshed my monitor I saw a sudden jump by 30.67%. Do you think at the price of around $20 this is a good buy if I were to hold off this stock till next 6 months or a year?
What if this is all a lie. I am talking about the recent Q3 earning report? What if there is really no smoking gun and just smoke? I never believed it when the CFO left so suddenly literally a day before Q2 release. And now I read in the G&M that he is alive and well working for another company since he left AVO. What is your take on this article and the accounting concerns pointed out by Veritas. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/investment-ideas/avigilon-silences-the-doubters-or-at-least-most-of-them/article21465928/
Is this another case in which naive shareholders like me will have to learn the truth well after the share prices have completely collapsed? I look forward to your reassuring perspective. Thank you!
