Q: Hello can you please give me some insight on these companies. I heard the CEO speak from CNE CANACOL ENERGY and he sees growth into the next few years. BNS has a target of $9.50 and thinks the dividend is safe... is this realistic? My average is $7.52 I am thinking of averaging down??? The other is SAVANNA ENERGY SERVICES..BNS has a $10.00 target on this and thinks the dividend is safe as well. Although they downgraded this one to a Sector Perform... My average is $8.49.. Should I sell these and switch into something else. Your insight is always helpful thank you. Jason

Q: DHX shares have moved up nicely from the time of your report this spring; my broker lists upcoming Q4 earnings estimate as 1 cent (4 analysts) and revenues of $30.7 mm (almost unchanged from last Q) with the big jump in earnings and revenue projected for next Q1. Do you agree with these numbers and what is the short position?

Also who are its peers (broker lists only tiny ones such as ZUM) and does a lot of the potential growth come from the foreign operations where it gets 30% of revenue and what countries does DHX operate in? Thanks, J.

Q: Re: FLOT (US) - Floating Rate Bond
I currently have a large US$ cash balance in my US Trading Acc't which I put into TD's Investment Saving Account (TDB8152) to get at least a little bit of interest while the money sits idle between trades. Would FLOT be a suitable alternative to TDB8152? For instance, how would it compare in safety and yield, and are there any other alternatives to these that you might recommend for idle US$?
Thank you.

Q: Peter; Just further to Henry's US tax question does this include RRSP's/RRIF's also? And if so if your US holdings increased to over $100m then you would have to sell something to bring it back below that level? Is our government going to send a list of our total US holdings to the IRS? How would they track all of this- maybe I am missing something about this will work in reality. Thanks.Rod

Q: Regarding today's question about form t1135, I've read elsewhere that you do NOT have to fill this out if the foreign stocks/ETF's are in a registered account, such as an RRSP or TFSA. You would need to do it if they are in a cash account. Is this correct? Thanks for clarifying.

Q: Hi 5i team, Am I right in thinking that with new US legislation, a Canadian citizen will have to file a form if owing more than 100K's or more's worth of US stocks; even if this is held in a Canadian account, indeed, in Canadian $?
Thanks as always. Henry

Q: re: AVO... the ongoing Saga

It has become the new/latest "Amaya type" 5i blogging saga. Panic abounds and the length of the discussion grows daily.

I have read all answers and like everyone else I am buried on this one, but for me to cut and run and take a loss based on panic would be retarded. The numbers continued to appear reasonable and future opportunities appear to be available especially if some of their cash can be spent on a quality acquisition.

My Concern??? How easy is Alexander Fernandes to work for? It may be my ignorance of the true situation, but it appears to me the turn over at this company is very high. Which begs the question if all of Mr. Hernandes' time is being spent replacing people, then who is minding the store regarding day to day business? And if in fact he is difficult to work for (which in some respects isn't a bad thing) what can we expect from the people he hires moving forward?

Personnel turnover is expensive. Is there any validity to my concern?

Thanks You for all you

Patiently Yours

Gord
