Q: Further to Grant's question on Chemtrade, the bought deal for $100 million, with shares purchased at $21.30 each, saw the market price of shares drop from $21.92 to $21.30 ( as I write this). Can you explain why it appears that such deals tend to lower the stock price, in the short term, to the amount of the bought deal price? Thanks.

With my understanding that you prefer DHX over Corus CJR.B, would you still consider Corus a "hold" or, since DHX has dropped recently, would you recommend a switch to DHX.B at this time? My wife's RRSP has one position of Corus in an otherwise diversified portfolio. Or is "media" not a good place to be right now?

I’m not happy with Canadian Oil Sands (cos) and Ensco PLC (ESV) in my portfolio and would like to sell for less volatile names. On the Canadian side I’m looking at buying Vermilion Energy (VET) or Pembina Pipeline (PPL) or possibly Enerplus Corp (ERF). On the US side Kinder Morgan (KMI) or China Petroleum & Chemical (SNP) or Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.B.

What do you think of this move and which ones are your favorites.

Q: I've held this stock for the past couple of years and am pleased it's performed so well. With it having hit annual/lifetime highs is it too late to purchase more? What do you see as it's future prospects and do you plan on writing a report on it anytime?

Q: I hold Sylogist as 5.6% of my portfolio, with a nice healthy gain (yesterday's price) of 47.7%. (Thank you!) Having hit its all time high in the early fall at $12, it can never seem to push beyond that. Is it time to claim profits and re-assign the very healthy profits to another more growth-oriented stock, or do you foresee impending catalyst to take this stock higher?

In another semi-related matter, I find it difficult to wrap my mind around what is termed "Book Value". I assumed that Book Value meant the price you paid for the stock, factoring in the trading fees, for a net purchase value. I notice, however, that Book Value fluctuates, from week to week. Am I going cross-eyed, or is there a logical explanation for the floating values? Excuse my naivety on this one, but I'm honestly perplexed. Thanks, as always, for your valuable comments.

Q: Hi team, I already have a position in CSH.un Chartwell and was thinking of adding another position in a different company in the long term care space. I was trying to decided whether to chance EXE at these price levels or just take a position in LW whose stock price has held up rather well over the last couple few months. If you had to choose should I just add to CSH (less than 1% of my current portfolio) or take a position in one of the other LW or EXE. Opinions? As always thanks for your time.

Also, an RRSP has to be converted to a RRIF in the year someone turns 71, do you have to withdraw that year, or is it the year in which you turn 72 that you have to start withdrawing?

Q: Until recently, BTE always won out over CPG for stock selection, and in early Sept. it still traded at a $3.50 premium over CPG. Now it trades $5 lower than CPG. What has happened? Is it time to kiss Baytex goodbye?
