Q: I would like to know which companies you really like for long term holds are presently richly valued and likely to tread water for a while barring radical market moves one way or the other. I am tempted to ask for a number of companies in this situation--say 5-- but am reluctant to force you to put a company in which really doesn't fit the parameters just to make up the number nor to limit you should there be more than 5.

Do you think it is a good time to get out of TRP, while is doing fairly well?
Also would you strongly suggest to put the funds into IPL or PPL, or stay in cash for a bit?

Q: Hi Team, I have heard more than one commentary about a coming market correction. I own a wide spectrum of sectors, about 65% large cap, and 25% in mid-cap. and 10% small cap I have gains in all sectors (not all stocks) and I'm thinking about taking some gains to move into some cash for the next couple of months. What are your thoughts about the following sectors in small, mid and large cap , and how they might be affected if the market corrects. (all Canadian stocks)
Oil and gas
Pipelines
Financial
Industrial (eg. BGI.UN, WEF)
REITS
Tech
Consumer (DH)

Q: Hi,
I am trying to understand currency hedging. This is from FFI.UN's description:
"Currency Hedge
The portfolio's US dollar exposure is hedged back to Canadian dollars to protect against currency risk."
Does this protect me against the CND dropping or USD dropping?

One specific point is this---5i "We like its timeless content library" Donville sees much less value in the library after it has been shown.

Q: I have been watching TAO.TO (Tag oil), it has declined from 10.00 to 3.00, yet headlines identify that they have found lots of oil and gas in NZ. What are your recommendations, considering this low price?

Q: BMO has a new bond fund ZTH floating rate bond fund. It holds treasuries, but uses credit default swaps and other things to get the high interest. What are the risks relative to the more common high yield funds, that holds the bonds directly?

health care. Would it be worth adding that sector to the list in the right side bar?

A few advisors are suggesting that it is timely to raise some cash because a serious pull back is expected (my RRIF portfolio has only 3% cash); in my opinion, this suggestion flies in the face of the principle of investing for the long term (time in the market vs timing the market)
Your opinion is most valuable; in the meantime, I'm trying to identify my "lowest conviction" holdings.

Q: I'm looking for your thoughts. My wife and I's RRSP money is invested in 2 mutual funds - Phillips Hagar and North Dividend Income fund (200K+ in D series, have held for 15yrs+ and no longer contribute) and Franklin Tempelton Bissett Canadian Equity (400K+ in F series, have held for 15+yrs and continue to contribute). At what point should I/we consider switching these to self controlled RRSP accounts as opposed to investing in Mutual funds - please note both are invested directly with the investment firms and not through a Broker? Both funds have what I consider low MERs at 1.18%, and have performed quite well as far a returns relative to overall markets with very little thought or effort on my part, allowing me to focus on other investment themes. Over the last few years I have taken control of much of our other financial assets and have self directed TFSAs (2x 40K) and non-registered monies in stock (100K), none of which overlaps companies invested in the mutuals, and most of which are a combination of profiled companies from your site... I'm not sure my question is a question, but I'm looking for your thoughts on evaluating switching from the quality of my mutual funds to say ETFs or a basket of stocks to replace the mutuals, if I was to do so. - Cheers.
