Q: Hi Peter and Team,

In previous answers to questions you've said that 1) earnings, 2) interest rates, and 3) flows of capital (e.g., from bonds to stocks) tend to be the main drivers of market activity.

What is your take please on these drivers so far this year in Canada? Are any trends emerging?

Many thanks.

Michael

Q: Hello Peter and Staff
Should I be concerned re SLF. Since purchase, based mostly on recommendation here, plus some personal research, on Feb. 28 it has been steadily down - almost 5% - in less than 4 wks. Is there something new in the interim. Should I hang on hoping to make up that 5% and perhaps make a little more over the balance of the year. Thanks very much

Q: Good day Peter...I'm caught up trying to classify positions by sector. And I need feedback about a few REIT Trust companies. Should all REITs.un be classified under real estate or CSH.un as health care, GRT.un as industrials, BYD.un as consumer discretionary and HR.un as diversified?......Thanks....Tom M

Q: Recently you remarked that REITS could be considered part of the fixed-income portion of a portfolio. Could the same be said of Mortgage Investment Corps (e.g. MCAN, Timbercreek, Trez), or would they be part of the equity allocation?

What is the difference between Timbercreek Mortgage Investment Corp. (TMC) and Timbercreek Senior Mortgage Investment Corp (MTG)? (Same with Trez Capital: TZZ and TZS.)

Q: I interpret that you are not constructive on Leon's (LNF) based on your response to Dennis & his TFSA question today. It has a 2.55% yield and a beautiful chart. Could you expand on your position?

Q: hello Peter & 5i team. I read today CSX after the harsh winter will reduce earnings by $0.10/share in Q1 and that execs are cautious on full-year profit and on if the company can reach its goal to achieve a two-year CAGR of 10% to 15%. I very recently bought shares at $27.69 and price as of today is $28.56. My feeling is to sell right now. Your thoughts please and as always, thank you for your time.

Q: Please elaborate on your negative long term view on STB.

Q: Peter, I asked a question yesterday PM. & received the answer this early AM. Fabulous service. On the other hand, I asked a question about 10 days ago on STB & am still waiting for your reply. I didn't bother to enquire before because of your note concerning possible delays. My earlier STB question again concerned the continuing monthly purchase by SNCF of nearly 100,000 shares & now represent over 10% of issued securities.
I have a substantial investment in STB (for monthly income only & have protected the downside) however, I just find it unusual that a very large France based conglomerate would continue to invest nearly 1mm a month in this really small SchoolBus Co.???? As ever, your expertize is appreciated.
