Q: I am thinking of building a small portfolio using only the (A) rated stocks from your monthly summary list. Wondering if that would provide enough diversification to get a decent return over the long term?

Q: When you give a report on a company you give it a rating A, B- etc.

Do you have this rating available on all the other stocks that you have not profiled

Great service

Q: A non binding offer of $.80 has been made by Midwestern, an affiliate of Mart, for the oil & gas company Mart.Is this a good deal for shareholders or can other offers be expected? It appears there is very little confidence in this price since the stock rose to $.72 today then fell back to the low sixties.Your comments ,as slways, would be appreciated.

Q: i am 77 years old and have a lower 7 digit portfolio.

my occasional advisor wants me to change most of my investments ,particularly the RIFF to CI Guaranteed Retirement Cash Flow Series G5/20 or alike.I think that is too conservative and the commission is in the 3 % plus.
Your opinion please. Walter

Q: Would you buy this ETF at todays price or wait awhile to see if the price of oil continues to go down? Realize this is a tough call but I value your opinions. Tks, Bill

Q: Hi Peter,

Again, just a recent subscriber. I noticed last week your response to another subscriber about some small cap US stocks that you might like.

Of the suggestions, I did some of my own research on TCON and MNST and bought positions in both. Tcon is up almost 50% and MNST is up approx 20%. As you suggested they are spec positions so I took relatively small positions in both. Nonetheless those trades alone will pay for your service for the next 10 years

First, thanks for the great ideas.
Second, why don't you guys start a small cap US growth research service? The variety of stocks for you to recommend is extremely broad.
Thirdly and lastly can you suggest any other small cap growth in the US that I can research?

Much appreciative

Q: I am thinking that it is time to own a transportation company to take advantage of low gas prices and improving economies. I know that you like both of these companies, so I am wondering if there is something to suggest buying one over the other? Both seemed tied to North American economic growth although perhpas Cargojet may have some international business so I am thinking that this is an apples to apples comparison despite the different modes of transportation provided. I have a preference for company that could be a long term hold with a growing dividend.

Appreciate your thoughts as always.

Q: Good morning. I would like some help with my TFSA. At present I have CIX (+5%), FTT (-15%), and VET (-26%) and cash. Total value is 30K with 12500 in cash.
After reading through your TFSA questions I am tempted to sell all holdings and buy new holdings. (ie time to let the losers go and place money into your recomended stocks with good growth potential)
I am 53 year old with a non registered acct holding blue chips and your model portfolio.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Q: Hi Peter.
What is wrong with WIN? Essentially no debt, huge amount of cash on hand (+100 million) and they just increased their dividend (yield above 6%). What am I missing? Should I buy more in my TFSA? Thanks.

Q: I saw your recent answer on FAP. Do you have any ET to recommend that give off shore exposure to the credit market? I would seem to me that some exposure to this sector would be important for diversification of income sources. FAP does fill that bill. I don't own it but am tempted by the yield (as you say).

Q: Hi Folks,

Recently, CVE did a dilution bought deal for up to 1.7 bil @ 22.25 underwritten by TD and RBC. Currently holders of this deal are under water by almost a dollar. What do you make of this and from your experience when institutional holders make a bulk purchase of shares and then the shares tend lower initially, is it simply that these new shares are washing through and hence the lower price reps the increased volume. From an outsider perspective, the current price looks interesting to me with oil making a bottom formation. Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter. The conference on Saturday at Four Points was most informative and fun. Thanks for putting it on. My question relates to playing the Japan market. Would you recommend a Canadian ETF that would give adequate exposure, or alternately and US ETF. Thanks
