Q: a bit of granurality for the benefit of your readers following your response on Fairfax.
The last time I checked they had I think no more than 5 positions, one of them is an important position in the BANGALORE AIRPORT growing ''exponentially''.
On the bad side :
1 it trades in US dollars and I have no hedge
2 It has I think a pretty hefty MER similar to a hedge fund, I have a call wainting to be answered but nobody answers as I want to know how the MER is calculated.
All and all seems not bad and signifantly better than ZID so far

Q: ,,It is almost similar to a private equity firm where the investments will need time to grow in value and then the holding company may need to do something (sell, IPO, etc,) to actually realize the value and get some liquidity.,,
I do not understand your comment. I have a 60% gain. I can sell now and realize the profit. What do I don't know?

Q: Would you kindly rank the following bank ADRs: LYG, SAN, IBN, for a the next year or two, and your rationale. They are potential buys within a TFSA. I realize the currency conversion and dividend tax are major drawbacks. But the single digit prices of these ADRs and apparent change in sentiment for the financial sector in Europe, as well as the sentiment in emerging markets, as well as India in particular is currently compelling to me. What are your thoughts. I'm leery of etf's these days, for example XID. Too many piling into etf's may not end well in my opinion. Finally I'm also curious whether your opinion of Fairfax India has become more favourable at all since the last question on it was answered. To me Fairfax India avoids currency conversion and potentially benefits from watsas knowledge and resources. What are your thoughts

Q: What do you recommend is the best way of gaining exposure to the Indian stock market? In the past I have purchased Excel India mutual fund and I am considering Fairfax Indian fund. I am a long term investor and plan to hold my position for at least 5 years. I welcome your comments.
