Re 5NPlus (VNP)

With a recent contract renewal, debenture issue and a stock price coming off a recent high, any update would be appreciated.

Q: I have uninvested US funds. Would like to invest in an US dividend Aristocrats ETF. In this regard would you prefer NOBL yielding 2.28% (MER .35%) with 54 Companies and appear to follow the S&P Dividend Aristocrat Index or the HDV yielding 3.26% (MER .40%) with 75 Companies. If you do not like either of these, do you have other alternatives?

Interestingly, BlacRock US website indicate that a new Core Dividend Growth ETF (DGRO) is expected to be launched on June 12, 2014. There are no facts as of yet except the MER will be .12% and the objective of this ETF "seeks to track the investment results of an index composed of U.S. equities with a history of consistently growing dividends."

Q: I would appreciate your comparison of Enerplus (ERF) and Whitecap (WCP). I have done well by ERF but RBC's recent downgrade on the basis of its price appreciation makes me wonder if the growth prospects for WCP might be appreciably better. There would be no tax consequences to me of making such a switch and the dividends are similar. I look forward to your reply.

Q: I have noticed alcoa (aa) and a french company has been testing and promoting an electric car battery that extends a vehicle range up to 1800 kms. There has been some talk of creating a plant in Quebec. I have looked into the technology and it seems they do have something that has the potential to be enormous and could propel electric vehicles into main stream. I understand Ford is involved also. Do you have any opinion on this new battery and alcoa and if this is a good entry point? Thank you Dave T.

Q: Trinity industries. Symbol TRN-N. They build and refit double sided rail cars to transport oil. With the pipelines in question, is it a good buy??? CHEERS Claude

Q: XTR - I noticed one of your responses concerning this fund in which you state, among other things, "a diversified income fund like XTR are similar but you will pay more in fees as all of your allocation will be exposed to the fee vs a portion of the model"

However, I am not sure this is correct - the prospectus relating to the fund fees indicates "the management fees will be adjusted to reflect the fees paid on the underlying funds held in the fund to ensure the total fees paid will not exceed the indicated management fee"

Wondering if you have any updated comments on KEL and CR? What about the gas sector in general with low historical gas inventories and A/C coming soon? Do you anticipate a continued uptrend in prices?

Q: Hi Peter: The TSX and others offer subscribers what is called a level 2 view of what order volumes are for a given stock both on the buy side and the sell side at specific prices. My question is if someone was to place a stop loss order does this show up on the level 2 feature. If someone was to be able to see stop loss orders on such a service they could manipulate the stock price lower then snap up the stop loss stocks at market prices. Is this a possibility?

Q: Regarding Dollarama (DOL). I generally like to let my winners run, especially if they are still trading at attractive valuations and I have had a good run with Dollarama however its now trading at 22x 2015 earnings estimates and 19x next fiscal year's earnings estimates.

Do you think its being too cute selling on any additional move up hoping for a pullback close to the $90 level?

I figure yesterday's move in the share price had everything to do with Icahn taking a position in Family Dollar and a bit of last weeks, move was based on the report that Dollarama would make a good fit for one of the dollar stores in the States.
