Q: I noticed you did not sell Contrans in the model portfolio at end Oct. If I understand this correctly now that Transforce has 70% it will buy those shares pending regulatory approval but it would need something like 90% to force remaining shareholders to sell. With this as a possible outcome would you continue to hold Contras as a minority shareholders in a Transforce controlled company? If not, sell at discount now or tender?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Hello,
How often is the Model Income Portfolio reassessed? Do you feel the stocks listed in the portfolio are still acceptable for entry positions?
Thank You

Q: Your equity portfolio has a heavy weighting to Tech stocks (CSU,MDA,ESL,DSG,SYA,AYA). Some of these have had big moves this year - I am looking to add some exposure for a long term hold - which of these offers best value now. Many thanks
Q: Hi Peter I am looking at putting this company in my portfolio next month if its still in yours. Globe and Mail puts it in utility sector. Do you? Only wondering as I wonder which sector in my portfolio to do a trade to add SPB
Thanks again
Thanks again
Q: In a taxable account with significant gains for the year, I am sitting on a 13% loss with WSP and 10% loss with ET. I could buy RRSP's to negate some of the tax issues on my gains, or sell one or both of my stocks underwater - with intentions of buying them back after 30 days. I'd appreciate 5i's thoughts?

Q: Could I have your comments on Superior Plus's earnings and dividend increase. Thanks
Q: this is more of a general question.
I own BDI, WSP, MCB & SJ all down significantly and all losses YTD for me except SJ. I expect that the carnage is over but are they all dead money for some time to come (although the dividend yield has by default improved) and a switch into something else within your two portfolios provide a better return.
Of the 4, which does the team expect the best risk/reward return over the next 12 months and within the 2 portfolios which stocks would you replace them with to be in a better position in 12 months?
On the other hand, if these are strong well managed companies, is it best to wait for an improved Global economy which should lift them back.
thanks so much!

Q: Do you think Surge Energy is worth holding at current levels given the risk of a dividend cut? I understand their hedging program but as investors continue to panic sell the yield has become noticeably high...knowing the company the way you do, what is your best advice. Much thanks as always, Curtis
Q: as a newcomer to the 5i stable i was wondering if you would recommend initiating a new position in Valener at its current price of around $16.24 as part of an income oriented portfolio? Thank you
Q: Peter; Coulld you comment on SGY's " sustainability" report of today. Mr.Colborne obviously watches BNN and is ready to defend his company. Thanks. Rod
Q: I am looking at purchasing 2000 shares of Surge Energy. This will be the one energy company in my portfolio. It will be 7% of the total investible assets. I am looking at holding for 2 years or longer. I like the dividend. I see the company released information about the low oil prices this evening, and their thoughts on this and how it will effect their investments in the future, and the safety of their dividend. What are your thoughts. New member yesterday and I am greatly impressed with your comments on Market Call yesterday. A great website.
Thank you
Thank you
Q: dear 5i team: i am currently down 12.87% on slw that was at a 5% weight in my portfolio would you consider taking a loss now and taking a position in xgd under the 10 dollar level? would this be very prudent? thank you. larry
Q: Hi
I am relatively new to investing and have just come into some money. I am looking to properly diversify my investments, do you think that if i were to only keep the stocks listed in the model portfolio, would that be a good place to start? (Assuming the rest of my investments were in fixed incomes) and if so, do you think that right now would be a good entry point into those stocks? Thanks in advance

Q: Which one would be your preferred choice in the restaurant casual dining space, Boston Pizza or A&W? It looks like the cash flow is not covering the A&W dividend.
Q: Good Morning Peter and Team,
We own the portfolios + a some complimentary companies. With all the volatility of late what 3 or 4 companies from the portfolios would you add to at this time ?
Thank you.

Q: Regarding the 'Model Portfolio' and the 'Income Portfolio'.
Do you Post any "changes" made to the Holdings within these two Portfolios?
Thank you for the Great Service.

Q: Hello 5i
The recent stock price decline has left me with a few positions underwater due to buy timing. In the context of a well diversified portfolio and holding all three names, would you please comment on adding to ET(Evertz) at this time as it has not really bounced back from the recent decline. Is there something to the lack of bounce? In comparison, would you consider adding to SYZ(Sylogist)or FSZ(Fiera Cap) ahead of ET?
Thanks for the informative service
Dave
