Q: I have additional funds available to purchase new positions from the growth portfolio. Can you recommend 2 or 3 for me?
I purchased AVO, CDV, CXI, DHX.B, DRT, EFN, XTC, IWO and SCR already.
Thanks!

Q: Hi folks: can't seem to get this Growth thing right. For example; according to Yahoo finance, the growth rate for XTC for this year will be 34.7%. The growth est. for next year is only 18.4% so is this is a "growth" stock for only the rest of this year? Several of the other stocks in the Growth Portfolio seem to have the same problem.

Q: Can you list your Growth Portfolio under "Portfolios" please? I have great difficulty finding the Growth portfolio on your site and I like to refer to it often. Thanks.

Q: What percentage of the growth stocks should make up for a total portfolio as you mentioned that these stocks should not be the only stocks in a well balanced portfolio? If I was to make my RRSP the income portfolio and then have my TFSA and also have an investment account outside the RRSP what would be the percentage?

Thanks
Dolores

Q: Hi 5i: How far will you let winners run in the Growth Portfolio before rebalancing? Given the higher risk context generally, will you tolerate more concentration, resulting from the odd holding going on a tear, or will you follow a discipline to keep your position sizes within strict limits? Thanks!

Q: Peter, I was fortunate to get into PHM at .26C. When it reached .52C I sold half my position and considered anything else to be "gravy" and vowed to myself never to touch that stake until one day they were sold, or became the darling of Nasdaq.
Well its up 119% YTD and now makes up 7.5% of my portfolio. It makes me happy and nervous all at the same time.
Should I reconsider my vow, or put my bigboy pants on and just hang on for the ride?

Q: Hi! When it comes to allocation in the new growth portfolio. If I only have $20 thousand available is it better to concentrate the funds in a few companies or buy what would be a pretty small position in each of the companies? And from what I have read from the questions I would guess the stocks to concentrate on, if that is the way to go, would be the ones were you have taken a 5% position.

Q: Good Evening Peter and 5i Staff

I want to do a little portfolio cleanup and am down substantially in PRW,QST and DEE. Do you see any catalysts in the near term? I hold several names in your Models and I'm am inclined to add CDV from you growth Portfolio as a replacement.

Q: Hi Team, with the recent rise of Surge, I am down (only!) 16% and thinking of bailing to buy a few more stocks in your new growth portfolio. So far I own PLI, PHM, IT, XTC and DRT. Do you suggest this move, and if so, what would be the next 3 stocks you would suggest. Thank-you so much for your service.

Q: Hi Peter, Over the next couple months I'll be building a $100K+ portfolio split between my trading acct and $35K TFSA. I wish to choose about 20 positions (across 5 sectors) using picks from the Growth and Model portfolios. My time frame is 5+ years. With this goal in mind, are there 5 or 6 stocks you would suggest directing specifically toward the TFSA? And why? Many thx.

Q: Dear Mr. Hodson and Team:
I am still on the % Allocation wagon.
What Percentage of our Canadian equity should we allocate to two 5i portfolios together- Growth and Balanced?
How would you characterize them- Growth as Small Cap, Balanced as Mid Cap- Am I right?

Q: Hello,

Unfortunately, I was not able to participate in the new Growth Portfolio when it was announced and looking at it now I see some stocks are up 20%. With that in mind, what will be your suggestion for somebody today: buy all or only the few that didn't grow so much and wait for a dip for the others?

Thanks
Marios

Q: Since your most recent adjustment to your model portfolio, I have been looking at Progressive Waste Solutions (BIN). Today, I was planning to purchase until I noticed a PE ratio of about 27. Since this is much higher than the 10 -15 that I usually target for buys, I thought I would investigate further. Their growth is about 5% which indicates a relatively poor PEG ratio of about 5 and I see that their cash flow for the year indicated borrowing to pay a large portion of their dividends and share buy back. Also the dividend is relatively low at about 1.7%. I am certain that you would not place this company in one of your portfolios if the negatives I have described above was the basis for your decisions. Can you explain what I am missing and why this is one of the new replacements to the portfolio? Thank you very much. I always value your analysis and opinions.

Q: Since I am retiring within the year, would I be wise to move my stocks to a more dividend paying portfolio or as 5I calls it "income portfolio". Would this move protect my RRSP money better if the market slips

Q: HI Folks: I assume the Growth Portfolio is based on "earnings growth". I can find info on "profit growth" and "Return on Equity", but nothing on Earnings Growth. Is there a source for this information or a calculation available to determine it?

Q: I own 13 of the stocks in your growth portfolio. I previously owned 9 of these stocks in anticipation they would be in the growth portfolio.
my overall portfolio is up 22 per cent ytd which is amazing with half these gains coming since april 1.
my question is how much of the gains in the growth portfolio since april 1 are because of your membership positioning themselves in the growth portfolio. can you evaluate this, personally I think a lot of the gains are from this action. dave
