Q: I am looking for a financial stock to augment BNS, AD, TCN and a mix contained within 3 dividend-distribution mutual funds(RBC Cdn Equity Income, Sentry Cdn Income, Sentry REIT).

I am a retired, income-oriented investor who likes to hold for the long term and get regular dividend increases and some capital gains. I also hold ZLB, AQN, ALA, BCE, WEQ, BTE, CPG, SGY, along with an insured annuity and I receive a pension.

Within the banks, I have narrowed it down to RY or TD. Excluding the banks, I am considering SLF, MFC and PWF. I know you recommend SLF, yet the bulk of the analysts lean towards MFC, even though they cut their dividend in the latest crisis. The insurers seem to have more total return upside than the banks.

Question #1: Given my current portfolio mix, which financial stock would you recommend? Is there another stock for me to consider that I have not mentioned?

Question # 2: While I am not a market timer, would I be better to keep my cash on the sidelines for a few more weeks for a better entry point. I know I can always start with partial positions.

Thanks for your help,
Steve

Q: Hi Team,
I own about a half position in Carfinco and I am wondering if I should sell it on the news today or wait for the deal to run its course? There is talk that a special dividend is priced into the stock at its price this AM. of about $2.80. Any information about how these sort of situations typically play out would be appreciated.
Thanks, John

Q: I sold POT yesterday, made a decent profit and of course rec'd the dividends. I am wondering if I should deploy the capital to something you could suggest that has the safety with growth or should I wait until you offer your investment service. Do you expect that to be this month or a later time frame? Thanks again.

Q: what is your view on Atlantic powers (ATP.TO) recent strategic review...will this help turn the company around? The stock is down a ton partly due to the big dividend cut. Time to buy a few shares?

Q: ATP
What do you think about ATP as a buy. It dropped 32% today because of a big dividend cut and ? Is this an overreaction that is presenting a good buying opportunity or something else?

Q: Hello,

I was wondering if Enterprise (E.TO) and Easyhome (EH.TO) are good buys at current level? If yes what will be a good time frame for them?

Peter, I know that you don't like target prices and understand why, but can't we have a convention (at least for this site) that a 12 month target price, doesn't mean that the stock must be sold at that time. The conditions may improve by that time and there will be a new target (of course the reverse can also be true).

With that in mind are you willing to put a target price for them? Also, if this idea catches on, do you think we can have a Excel file with the most asked stocks and their target price? This way if conditions change, one would not have to sale just because the target price has been met.
Just and idea.

Thank you and I hope your ride goes smoothly.
