Shopify (SHOP) does not run a general‑purpose cloud platform like Amazon Web Services, where third parties can rent raw compute, storage, or databases. Instead, Shopify is itself a SaaS “commerce cloud” built on top of other cloud providers and its own data centers: it uses a hybrid/multicloud setup with AWS, Google Cloud (its preferred cloud provider in recent years), plus private infrastructure to host Shopify’s own e‑commerce platform. Thus, the report last week does not mean SHOP is falling behind.
