Q: I am probably being premature from an investment perspective but is there a Canadian LEN? It’s screamingly obvious Canada needs more housing construction; however, how does one best take advantage short of buying construction supply and timber firms?

The Canadian real estate space is mostly comprised of REITs. GDC is a 'developer' of properties. It is quite small but has been around a long time. Most Canadian home builders are private, or were public and then were privatized. MRD is another non-REIT option. IEI is a micro cap in the sector. TCN owns a portfolio of US rental properties. For home builders, we would suggest the US names over most of these.
