Q: Just a comment supporting your article about increasing dividends. I bought Canadian Energy Services (CEU) in 2007. Since then the dividends have grown to the point where I am currently earning at an annual rate of 48% of my original purchase price! Keep up the great work.

Can you please update your expectations for Just Energy. I have held it for some time and am obviously underwater with this one. The just released Q2 earnings sounded positive but a smaller hedge fund has reinforced it's Short stance because of the sale of the most stable part of JE's business. If I keep it, do you feel the dividend is now more secure or is it time to sell and move on?

p.s.- I have SGY so if I were to sell could you recommend a safer higher dividend yielding stock to replace JE.

What is the catalyst for growth at Questor?

Reason I ask:
-Waste gas incinerators are not new technology.
-They don't have anything to say about why their incinerators are better than the competition's other than to mention that they have patents.

Where is the competitive advantage? Better sales force? Generator integration?

I accept that demand growth / company quality might be enough for great growth in the stock but it seems like a unique product is being implied here that isn't actually. Perhaps your research or contact with management showed you more.

Q: Hi 5i: I just heard Jerome Haas on BNN describe EIF as an "absolute short" which was part of his company's hedge against a market correction. He essentially endorsed the Veritas report and the article in today's Globe and mail based on it. Besides Westower, he dismissed EIFs other businesses as problematical, and with respect to Westower he claimed that all its contracts were with STT and worth at most 5%. He did disclose that EIF was his company's largest single short. What are we to make of all this? Re Veritas, my amateur reading of the Avigilon results suggests that much of the Veritas claims against that company were not borne out. Are we seeing a conspiracy of the shorts, or is there truth to their claims?

Q: I have taken some profits from equities as I am rebalancing my allocation to a 75/25 split. However, now that I have increased cash what are recommendations for fixed income holdings? I am thinking ETF's such as HFR or do see other better options?

Q: Hi 5i,

I own Paramount Resources (POU) as part of my portfolio. The Company released results today and sales from their new Musreau facility are said to be imminent. With the capex mostly behind them for this project and production set to double by the end of the year, do you foresee Paramount initiating a dividend or will they continue to focus on growth and save their money for additional capital expenditures.
