Q: I see an article expounding the tremendous opportunity of Sling tv and others like it from "how the market works". What's the intelligent perspective here? If it is a good opportunity - how does an average joe like myself gain understanding of this?

Q: Hi Peter,

In recent questions re my convertible Deb holdings, I sold a majority of my energy based CV's. My IT 8.5% was also just called very recently well before maturity.

I currently want to maintain that % in my portfolio of Convertibles.

Can you please recommend 5 or 6 convertible bonds that you recommend I replace my sold and redeemed CV holdings with.

Keeping in mind return, ability to be redeemed in full at maturity and finally perhaps some upside potential due to equity growth.

CBC Radio had an interesting segment this morning that dealt with the aftermath of the Bangladesh clothing factory disaster. I was pleased to see that Gildan takes their corporate responsibility very seriously as outlined in this link:

Q: Hello Peter & Team,

I wonder if I could get some guidance from fellow members about what to do with form T1135 after I've completed it. It sounds like a stupid question but the form seemed not to be a part of my return when I was actually completing it. When I do file my return, can I be sure the T1135 will be included?
Especially as the certification bit needs to be signed. I'm sure I read somewhere that it could be filed electronically too.
Thank you for letting me use your forum like this; I'm getting a little frantic.

Q: Hi Peter and company, At first thanks for this great service, it adds a lot value for small investors like me. So today I completed buying the whole growth portfolio(i was buying over last week). For most of the companies I bought them more or less 10% of your recommended price. But looking back I realized I did pay big premiums(from your recommended price) for these companies.

DRT - 26% more of your recommended price
CXI - 21% more of your recommended price
GXI - 15% more of your recommended price
XTC - 14% more of your recommended price
SCR - 13% more of your recommended price
CDV - 12% more of your recommended price
KXS - 10% more of your recommended price

I know you guys don't believe in 'target price'. But can you please give me your honest opinion for these mentioned companies at these elevated prices?

Should I sell some of the positions(I think I still can as their current price still hover around where I bought them)? I have a 2-5 years time horizon.

Please be selective, even if you can find one which does not look attractive at these price, please suggest.

Q: It appears this is a US Co. with a Cdn. listing. If you owned over $100,000.
of this Co. would that require a "Yes" on the personal income tax form & a completed Form T 1135?
Also any updates on CXI re big Thurs. move?

Q: I have Sprott Physical Silver Trust units which I bought at about $14 a unit quite a few years back. I now realize I should have sold them long ago, but I didn't.
I'm hoping Silver will eventually increase in price so I won't be stuck with a huge loss.
Today Sprott made an announcement of a hostile bid for metal trust.
I have a feeling this may not be good for PHS.U unit holders, can you comment on this deal?

If there's any conflict involved and can't comment, I'll understand.

Q: I see PHM is down more than 10% today, CXV is down 13%, Noblis down over 5%, and Concordia down substantially, as well. I'm wondering what is going on this up-market day, and also, what you think of the comparative gains and risks of these types of companies vs big American bios like Amgen, Biogen, Celgene, and Gilead.

Q: WiLan's Q1 estimate of 5 cents (3 analysts avg.) is a far cry from last year's 14 cents, and revenue of $20.3M below $26M. What is causing such a reduction in expected numbers, is it legal fees and the Apple suit as suggested in your 2014 report, or is this company just shrinking? I guess any big beat could cause a good lift off the bottom of the chart, so I'm wondering if I should add to a small position as the 6.8% yield is tempting. Do you agree with the analyst numbers? Q: What are the market conditions besides interest rate that would make a 1-5 yr.laddered bond instrument attractive? Or is it a secular rotation from stocks to bonds that is the only other factor?

Q: Assumptions: proper sector diversification and adequate fixed income products are already covered in my total portfolio. What ETF's (4) would you suggest for our 20k investment for 2015,we are 72 and have nothing outside Canada.
