Q: Hi Peter,

Hoping you and team can provide some advice on when to sell a stock. I consistently struggle with when to hold and when to sell so have always erred on the side of holding. This has generally worked out for me with the exception of cyclical stocks. I have held Magna for a very long time and it is creeping over 8% of my portfolio and wondering if this is the time to trim a bit. However, the momentum in the stock is quite strong and so I continue to dither and sit on the sidelines. Your advice would be helpful.

Q: Good morning!
Help! Four months ago, I started investing in my TFSA for my young adult son. I hold ACQ, AVO,CGX, STN and T. All are down between 6-7% except Telus. I know that these are good companies, but I would really like to add a stock that will show growth in the near future. What would you suggest? I so appreciate your service-my other accounts are doing well, based on your advice. Many thanks. Ellen

Q: re: Magna International

Hi guys... trying to find a good entry point for MG. Forward P/E is just 12.4 and price to book is just 1.9 so there appears to be tremendous value. Add to that nine out of 10 estimates have been raised for 2014 in the previous 30 days BUT... the stock is at a 5 year high. And this with the Auto industry not necessarily lighting the world on fire as it was expected to for a number of reasons. What are your thoughts on how this equity will perform over the coming 12 - 24 months. I keep looking for a correction with none in sight. Thank You

Q: Greetings to Peter and his team. You guys are great. I am thinking about selling my Magna International shares that I I acquired very recently and buy TRW instead. My reason is that I just saw analyst's 12 month target estimates for TRW are much better for TRW than Magna. I have tried to ask questions about TRW on BNN several times but none of the portfolio managers seem to follow it.

Q: Peter, I have $15,000 to deploy after clearing my own unsuccessful picks from last year. The rest of my portfolio is as follows: purchased recently ACQ, WEF, CGX, ENB, CSU, STN. These picks are all thanks to you ! And I am already up on almost all of them.
Now, what to do with the $15,000 available capital ?
I am after decent dividend, but my main aim is growth, so I can make up for the loss of last year.

Q: Hi Peter and Crew,

I was getting very overweight BAD-T (big happy smile), so I took the advice of conventional wisdom and trimmed my position.

I now have funds to redeploy. The market tends to be statically pretty positive from November till April.

I was wondering if you could suggest a few stocks that are rated highly in your analysis, that have cap gains momentum currently and should do well in the winter months (and of course, after that too).

Thanks for your great service !!!

Q: Don Walker of Magna was a very enlightening interview on Headline yesterday (archived here: http://watch.bnn.ca/#clip1006513). I have a half position in Magna from $44 US and based on what he outlined for the company such as unlimited upside sales potential I'll look for an opportunity to up my position. What concerns me is his acknowledgment that his is a cyclical industry and I've been stung before holding this stock too long. Do you see the current upcycle continuing for at least 12 months and if you were adding to the position today would you buy on NYSE or TSX? There's slightly better liquidity in U.S. and dividend is U.S.$

Thanks, J.

Q: Peter & Co.,

I'm curious to hear your opinion on today's G&M article entitled "Time to book profits in Magna, other auto parts makers: analyst"

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/inside-the-market/hjkh/article14213639/#dashboard/follows/

Basically, Martin Roberge of Canaccord Genuity argues that the rise in oil prices and interest rates has reduced the affordability of autos, and at 12X forward earnings these companies will have a hard time maintaining momentum. He also referances the technical breakdown in US homebuilders as cause for concern in the sector.

I own both Magna and Martinrea as part of a relatively balanced portfolio... should one listen to Martin and "book profits and cut positions"?

Thanks!

Q: Hello Peter and hard working 5i Team;
I would like to know your current thoughts on Winpack? I missed a good entry point when the stock was stalled a while ago. Would you consider the stock cheap at the current level?
Can you also comment on what criteria, or metrics, would indicate a cheap stock even though it is at a high level after a long runup? eg: Magna
Thanks in advance.
