Q: Good Morning
I have a 3% holding in WEF as my only forestry stock. The few major holdings I have are limited to about 3%. With the recent significant decline in the price of this stock would you advise an increase of 1% or so, or choose another investment?
Q: I have a small position in WEF and am looking to increase my exposure to the sector. If you were to choose one lumber play today, which one would it be? And what indicators would you be looking at that might signal that the sector is starting to move again. Thanks.
Q: Western Forest Products has dropped from its recent high, while West Fraser Timber got back to its high. I assume this is because $WFT was mentionned in an article on Bloomberg as well as in LesAffaires. Do you think that's likely it, or did I miss a piece of news? $WEF, which is lagging, is cheaper and pays a dividend. I'm intrigued. Also, it seems to me forestry stocks are in an excellent position right now, with not only lower oil prices but a lower CAD. I'd love to get your insight.
Q: Can't seem to find out what happened at WEF. Dropped nearly 25% in the last 10 days. One director resigned & another officer - Cairo sold out his position. Am I missing something else?
Thank you.
Q: Hi Peter & Team,
Following your answer to Selwyn, Sep. 25th, please explain your comment"...and it is very cyclical"
Did you mean seasonal cycle (winter, summer etc.) or housing starts?
The chart shows a straight growth of 250% in 3 years.
Thanks,
Morris
Can you please give outlook of Forest/Lumber industry for 1 to 2 year time horizon ? Which month of the year I should consider for the investment, seasonality point of view weakness in the sector ? Which stock you recommend for investment ?
Q: Western Forest Products, WEF. Whatdo you think of this Co. It has instituted dividend. Looks to be doing very well. I heard that there is a slow market period currently. I had 1000 shares, which I sold as the stock moved up in price. I want to buy, but looking for a bottom. Is this the bottom, or will it fall further. Any idea about the seasonality.I value your opinion a lot. Thanks.
Q: Peter and team,
Can I get your opinion on NCI (NTG Clarity) and ANS Ainsworth Lumber? After a failed merger with LPX do you think ANS is still a takeover candidate? In the lumber forestry sector, which name that you would buy yourself? Thanks in advance.
Q: WEF. Western Forest Products is off its highs close to 30% now. The RSI suggests it is oversold.
Would you agree? And would this be a reasonable time to add to my existing position in this stock?
I am still up nicely over the last year and have been looking for an opportunity to add.
On the other hand do you think some of the "steam" is out of the forestry sector?
